    Unquestionably one of Eltons finest and controversally accaimed albums and one that is yet again a masterpeice that highlights the strength and projection in bernies lyrics. Such was a time when bernie highlighted his imaginative and metaphorical skills in songs such as Tower of Babel, Tell me when the whistle blows and the albums only hit, someone saved my life tonight.     Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy is Elton John's best album. You can feel the emotions from start to finish. Elton and Bernie at the top of their games. It's a shame they split not long after this albums release (read more)

    Everything about this album is great. Too often you listen to an album that has a t least one turkey in its listing...this does not. Opening track: wonderful! "Someone saved my life tonight" not only has a fantastic tale to it, but boasts - possibly - the greatest keyboard riff ever. It's a shame it doesn't get the same respect as some of his more familiar albums. If you want another album that stands on that mantle of "no turkeys allowed", check out Boz Scaggs "Silk Degrees."
