Bad Points: Generally these cars are bulletproof (having the GT4 Turbo's engine it would be). But be soooo careful not to buy an imported dog! For example I bought my first Turbo impulsively and stupidly, hence the water pump failed, engine thermostat runs on water temperature, due to a leak there was no water therefore no indication of the engine block overheating, or the plumes of smoke that followed as the whole engine bay burst into flames on the motorway without warning. £3000 for that one!
General comments: Great performance, a real Ferrari feel to it, engine noise is superb, you'd have no idea when you see one going by just how awesome it feels to drive. Must have the turbo though, DONT rob yourself and buy the NA version, it's still a suprb car but when you've experienced both you can't compare.
Nothing will deter me from buying another Turbo, there is a reason supercars are built mid engined rear wheel drive, the MR2 Turbo follows that ethic superbly. Track days, road use, driving in traffic on a hot day, all good!

I own a black rev 3 Toyota MR2 GT-S turbo 1993...I'd say an absolute bargain at £4000. It's 300bhp with a T60 garrat turbo, these cars can quite easily be tuned to eat 911's, I love them so buy one. If you can get hold of some Nissan Skyline R32 rims...they go straight on, with spacers for the front. You get amazing grip due to the rears being 20 mil wider!

Hard to drift these but you can still have fun in the wet :) not the best for shopping and if you got kids etc but its a proper sports car, if you buy 1 you gotta drive it like you stole it you don t buy a fast car to drive slow! plenty of tuning available for these too, can push these to over 600bhp if you really wanted to, and the best bit is watching the imprezas fade away in you mirror, i love it, you will love it, so buy 1, and you aint gotta go to Toyota for all the bits, try ebay its en ...

Just bought my first Toyota MR2 its a GT T-Bar Turbo as well. I have had some fun cars in my time but this is the first one to make me feel like a really great driver, need to get it de-restricted any advice would be gratefully received, as for insurance I may be old at 52 but I put it on a classic policy with performance direct for 180.05 now that really makes me smile.

What I like about the Toyota MR2 T Bar Turbo GTS is the performance, ability to tune, available upgrades, handling, the feel when driven, looks, and the price. In my opinion the can be expensive when they go wrong.....thats about it!

This is my second Toyota MR2 in 3 years, my old one had everything, leather, the looks, etc, but one main problem, IT HAD NO TURBO!
I have looked long and hard for my current turbo, a 1994, Rev3 Turbo with leather and Alcantra interior and only 54,000 miles. Completely standard and never seen rain in this country as it was a weekend car all for only £3900. Now that's what I call a bargain supercar.
The MR2 Turbo is a wickedly fast car, with tons of grip (in the dry), and great fun in the ...

The Toyota MR2 T-BAR Turbo GTS Rev 3! MR2 Rev III Turbo is the fastest version of MR2 ever made running 240BHP as standard, my one is a GTS (turbo/T-bar). Mature Sporty Personal you here me! Theres plenty of 'fast' cars out there and to be fair they all go like stink - yet when racing someone how much further in front can u get from them usually? Couple of car lengths or so? All these so called mass produced sports cars can reach 60 m.p.h in 7 or 8 secs to a top end of 120 - 135. True peformance cars have always been ferraris / Lambo's / 'certain' Porsches ;)
The search was on to identify a sports car solely for driving pleasure that a Mr Average could afford to but & RUN!
The veh ...

I own a black GT Turbo T-bar model imported from Japan. It sticks to the road like glue and I give it a 10 out of 10 for grin factor. The Turbo cuts in early too (3000 rpm) and boy when it does HOLD ON!
