I just bought my rev 3 rurbo . Thats my third mr2 since i was 19 when i bought my first aw 11 . But thus sw20 is something like the peak of toyota. Great feeling when you drive it. Everything awesome this car gives me a feeling that you can stay forever young in it cos there ain't no place for getting older when you drive the mr2. I really do not care much bout the fuel consption its a sport car and is not meant ti be economic. I believe that the mr2 is rha beat gift for all the males who want… Read Full Review

Mine's an MR2 GT rev 3 Turbo, half leather and alcantara, with all the extras! Have had it for 2 years and driven it in all conditions, including heavy snow! I'd recommend taking it very easy in the snow, as it's incredibly twitchy... And really to be honest avoid driving in snow altogether if you can, because it's fun, but v v dangerous! I have a dented rim due to lame driving skill on my part. I'm not versed in driving mid-engined sports cars in the snow, and the turbo has enough lag to… Read Full Review

Toyota MR2 T-BAR Turbo GTS Rev 3. Good all round sports car!
Enough boot space for a long weekend away, good sound system, a pleasure to drive and faster than most of your WRX's and EVO's out there!
Would buy one again if there weren't so many young lads driving about in them now-a-days giving them a bad rep… Read Full Review

The first review appears somewhat missinfomred. He says do not buy an imported "dog" MR2 Turbo. Just a point here, but every MR2 turbo is an import as the turbo was never made for the UK market… Read Full Review

Great performance, a real Ferrari feel to it, engine noise is superb, you'd have no idea when you see one going by just how awesome it feels to drive. Must have the turbo though, DONT rob yourself and buy the NA version, it's still a suprb car but when you've experienced both you can't compare. Nothing will deter me from buying another Turbo, there is a reason supercars are built mid engined rear wheel drive, the MR2 Turbo follows that ethic superbly. Track days, road use, driving in traffic on… Read Full Review

I own a black rev 3 Toyota MR2 GT-S turbo 1993...I'd say an absolute bargain at £4000. It's 300bhp with a T60 garrat turbo, these cars can quite easily be tuned to eat 911's, I love them so buy one. If you can get hold of some Nissan Skyline R32 rims...they go straight on, with spacers for the front. You get amazing grip due to the rears being 20 mil wider!… Read Full Review

Hard to drift these but you can still have fun in the wet :) not the best for shopping and if you got kids etc but its a proper sports car, if you buy 1 you gotta drive it like you stole it you don t buy a fast car to drive slow! plenty of tuning available for these too, can push these to over 600bhp if you really wanted to, and the best bit is watching the imprezas fade away in you mirror, i love it, you will love it, so buy 1, and you aint gotta go to Toyota for all the bits, try ebay its… Read Full Review

Just bought my first Toyota MR2 its a GT T-Bar Turbo as well. I have had some fun cars in my time but this is the first one to make me feel like a really great driver, need to get it de-restricted any advice would be gratefully received, as for insurance I may be old at 52 but I put it on a classic policy with performance direct for 180.05 now that really makes me smile… Read Full Review

Written on: 29/06/2007 by ChrisGeorge (1 review written)

This is my second Toyota MR2 in 3 years, my old one had everything, leather, the looks, etc, but one main problem, IT HAD NO TURBO!
I have looked long and hard for my current turbo, a 1994, Rev3 Turbo with leather and Alcantra interior and only 54,000 miles. Completely standard and never seen rain in this country as it was a weekend car all for only £3900. Now that's what I call a bargain supercar.
The MR2 Turbo is a wickedly fast car, with tons of grip (in the dry), and great fun in the wet. I… Read Full Review

The Toyota MR2 T-BAR Turbo GTS Rev 3! MR2 Rev III Turbo is the fastest version of MR2 ever made running 240BHP as standard, my one is a GTS (turbo/T-bar). Mature Sporty Personal you here me! MR2 stands for MidEngine-RearWheeelDrive-2Seater. Plenty of mods available but little sister of the Supra T.Turbo. Poor Man's Ferrari. The Fast the Furios a little in your face but looks good and excellent value for your money. Deristrict is a must! Turbo only available in IMPORTS-What a SHAME! Japs have… Read Full Review

I\'ve decided I want a rev3 mr2 turbo after considering all the competition.
A friend of mine had a non turbo uk model and tho it wasn\'t that fast, it looks lovely and the build quality and trim is really nice.
The alternatives I am looking at are a scooby- fantastic but very common and I think rwd is more fun.
Nissan 200 s14- looks cool, quite rare and with good spec but not as fun to drive as the mr2 or so I am told-certainly is heavier and less powerful anyway.
Nissan pulsar- quite rare, but fragile and tho I kind of like the looks there not exactly conventionally sexy looks like the mr2.
Anyway- I have looked in newspapers for this car but do you know if an auction is worth going to or dodgy?

Theres plenty of 'fast' cars out there and to be fair they all go like stink - yet when racing someone how much further in front can u get from them usually? Couple of car lengths or so? All these so called mass produced sports cars can reach 60 m.p.h in 7 or 8 secs to a top end of 120 - 135. True peformance cars have always been ferraris / Lambo's / 'certain' Porsches ;)
The search was on to identify a sports car solely for driving pleasure that a Mr Average could afford to but & RUN!

sounds o.k but the prise's of these parts have gone way up now ... i looked for months to get a nice turbo had to pay nearly £10000 for it putting out 320 bhp and pay £509 fully comp 5 years no claims...not bad getting around 220 miles from £30 if drivin steady.....

There is a way to gvery cheap insurance on the mr2/mr2 turbo.
but you have to spend a bit to save a lot.
if you get a ferrari 355 kit fitted (looks the bee's Knee's!!!) you can go through kit car insurers and half your premium.
there is a campany that will take your car fit the kit spray it in your choice of colour fit the ferrari wheels badge it up and drop it off for ten grand.
if you save six hundred a year it pays for it self.

Spot on review of a very, very underated car! Not helped by the fact that most people are scared of by imports due to scare stories spread by dealerships & crazy insurance premiums. O well their loss!

He speaketh the truth !

Only one thing I'd have to add, if the road is wet, holy mother of god please heed these words (especially for turbo models) don't drive like a madman. If you overcook it on a wet corner it's rather like a warped ballet with a pendulum effect thrown into the mix! In short it's horrendous trying to regain control, but in the dry it goes like a dream. This 'handling in the wet' conundrum, is the basic principal of all mid engined motors so it's not a poor reflection on the MR2, which is a steal really for the price.

HaHa, ever gone through a roundabout in a rainstorm at 2am backwards and varying degrees of sidewards at 65kmphr?
Don't. While interesting it pays to wear tan coloured pants when attempting such an exercise.
