Good Points: Simple Free Telephone Number
    UK-based staff/call centre
    Easy to use

Bad Points: No good if you cannot remember security information !

General comments: I have been using Natwest's telephone banking services for a number of years and whilst First Direct are probably the very best, I have never had any problems with Natwest and always found them to be friendly and helpful. However, having to remember a security password etc works both ways - if you forget the information or don't have it to hand then the telephone service is redundant but of course, not having any security checks would mean that a lot more fraud would be committed. The choice is an empty bank account and fraudster in Brazil or money in the bank and a few security checks to cross. Having the Natwest freephone number plugged into my mobile has certainly been useful.

The first time I tried to use it to check my balance, I spoke to an advisor who asked some personal questions and that was fine. However, the next time I phoned I was told that I couldnt get my balance untill I registered a pass number, they transfered me to an automated system, I entered the pass code and then had the option to go back and speak to an advisor. I tried to speak to an advisor and got cut off. ...
