I have owned a blue Peugeot 206 GLX 1.4 for just over a month now and i have had no major problems with it.. shortly after buying the car i had noticed a loud clunking noise coming from the back end after going over bumps.. i had later found out that this was the bearing and rear axle which needed replacing.. apart from that the car is a dream.
All features like automatic windscreen wipers, fully adjustable driver seat and manual controlled passenger airbag down to the small details such as the seperate stalk on the steering column for the radio and gradual fade interior lights is what grabs me...from the front the broad headlights with large grill and classic bumper gives the car that 'evil smile' look and from the back it just looks like just another Peugeot with the best comparison from the rear being the 307, it is incredibly cheap on petrol aswell with this 1.4 version doing just shade of 45MPG.. For the enthusiasts the potential for modification is so wide that it would be impossible to take full advantage
Believe the slogan because in my eyes this car really is "The drive of your life"

Bought the car new in July 2007, just one of those days when should have stayed in bed. I'll never buy Peugeot again.

Having 4 people in a 206 is a definite no, not to mention its complete lack of power it scrapes off speed bumps. I also have that weird rattling noise beneath, even the garage dont know what it is. First month I had it the power steering fluid leaked and I nearly crashed. The clutch is the weirdest thing ever, it comes out way too far and the peddles are too close. I found out last week that the gear box is on its last legs but it always has been a bit clunky. The seat adjusters cracked off. Fin ...

Have an 02 model, head gasket gone twice, problems with central locking, rattle underneath when going over bumps. The Peugeot 206 1.4 LX is not a reliable car.

Had to go down from a Toyota Celica to a 206, what a dread I thought, however really surprised. This car is so much fun, like a little go-kart. Put it in sports mode and its amazing whizzes up to the red line before it changes down, loads and loads of fun. A lot of space for golf clubs and trolley, whereas other cars I looked at you could fit either or in the boot. The 206 both at one time. Ace.

I bought my Peugeot 206 hoping for a car which was simply cheap to run and good for stop-start city driving during the rush hour. By pure chance a local dealer had just put one up for sale. So, armed with no idea at all what to expect, I arranged a test drive to see if these little hatchbacks are all they're cracked up to be.
The test drive went well, and two weeks later the car was mine. So, when I arranged a long holiday in the Highlands of Scotland, my little car was perfect for hauling a hu ...

W reg Peugeot 206 1.4 LX 44,000 miles. This car has been the worst I have ever had and I will never have another Peugeot. It keeps cutting out whilst driving and idle and then revs by itself and if you then touch the gas it cuts out again. Mechanic cannot find anything wrong, as it happens for weeks then does not happen again for another week or so. My friend has exactly the same problem with her 206.

The Peugeot 206 1.4 LX has nice looks, a secret storage compartment under front passenger seat (lol), but it has cheap interior, is an import and the engine has a cutting out problem. Avoid!

My Peugeot 206 1.4 LX is a dream to drive and handles well. I've had no problems with it. It's quick and does not cost the earth to run. This is a sweet car, an all rounder. No problems to date!

The Peugeot 206 1.4 LX ticks all the boxes for a small car. I find the handling perfect - superbly responsive power steering. You ask it and it does it! The seats are great - accomodating the tallest and shortest of people. I am only 5ft and the driving position is very good. The car feels solid and safe compared to most other small cars. In my opinion the interior is stylish and the extra touches like the radio controls on the steering wheel make driving this small car an enjoyable experience. ...

I bought the Peugeot 206 in Feb and the longest I have had it is a month. I now have to get used to the idea that I won't have it much longer with all the problems. I'm just glad that U bought the extended parts warrenty! The E.C.U has gone in three places, the gearbox has gone twice and the exhaust is not only blowing after 2 months, but it has actually disconnected itself from the backbox which is a pain.

I had nothing but problems with my Peugeot 206 since I bought it the engine light keep flashing on the screen days after I got it. When I told the garage they said unless the light stayed on for more than a few seconds it was not a problem, months later had problems with brakes had problems with horn working when it felt like it also same for indicator lights (covered by warranty as it is 5 years on these parts). Then the year after warranty was out I was on a busy dual carraigeway when the car ...

I've had my Peugeot 206 for two years and overall it's been a good car. I've got the three door model and with a small child it's not ideal at all. I have a black version and it takes a lot to keep clean, seems to get dirty really easy for some reason. I've had other black cars but this one gets SO dirty! I like the style and look of the car though but the drivers side wheel is so squeeky, I've took it to the garage but they can't find anything wrong with it! I've also had to change the exhaust ...

We drove my Peugeot 206 LX for the first time only for the exhaust to start blowing within 20 miles. Next I came to understand that the radio kept losing its signal frequently which is really annoying. A week later the garage did get around to fixing the exhaust but now we can clearly hear a severe scraping noise with sharp steering at low revs. Not sure what this is now, but like someone has already said - you pay a bit more for peace of mind not a pain in the rear.

The Peugeot 206 is excellent first car and I would recommend it to others. However I was involved in a accident which caused my car to be written off. After phoning my insurance, I discovered that the 1.6xs version of the 206 is the same insurance group and same amount of insurance as the 1.4 I am in the process of purchasing a 1.6xs and will definitely keep you posted. But if you are 17 like me and have £1900+ for the insurance, then get yourself a 1.6xs. there are a lot more features (fo ...

I have had my Peugeot 206 from new it's done 6900 miles and only 14 months old. Have been back to the supplying garage 4 times as car was cutting out at idle speeds on one occassion almost causing an accident to be told there was no apparent fault on each occasion, this morning I have gone out to start the car and its completely dead, when I did manage to eventually get the car started the car decided it wanted to rev itself and was all over the place. When I spoke to Peugeot they stated I woul ...

Very good first car would definitely recommend to others. I have got the moonstone paint job which is silver/blue which flips to gold. This makes the car different to all the others.
Interior is not the best but the seats are comfortable and the air con is very good.
I got mine from France new built to UK spec and managed to save £2000+ and the extras are a lot cheaper. The dealership had an English speaking salesperson and was organised through emails.
