The Magimix GEL22003 Gelato Chef is a nice looking machine, turning out decent soft icecream I agree with gelliot. However, the design is poor. Plastic lugs break due to jarring when motor reverses. The smaller inside bowl has a bump on the bottom that fits into a depression on the base. This has worn through and has a hole. I have not used the machine that much. Very noisy. This mode has a fundamental design flaw - the motor that turns the paddle site son top of the machine and is fastened by two plastic lugs. When the ice cream gets stiff the motor starts to reverse but in doing so it tends to jar against the plastic. Twice I have had the plastic lugs break off meaning I needed to replace the plastic top. After using this for only a few months I've had to replace it with a Gaggia Geltier which is much better. (read more)

The Magimix GEL22003 Gelato Chef generally good machine that works easily and well most of the time and makes delicious ice creams.
It has one major defect. When the ice cream is nearly ready and has gotten pretty stiff, the paddle mechanism will reverse itself to overcome the resistance it is finding. Unfortunately this means that the paddle motor winds itself off the top of the machine. It's particularly noriceable when making a stiff custard based ice cream.
