Good Points: My husband and I booked a cruise on the Aurora sailing from Southampton to the Canary Islands for his retirement from the police force. We sailed in September 2003. We had a very fast and uncomplicated embarkation onto the most beautiful and clean ship that I have ever been on. We have cruised since with P&O and Princess and nothing compares to Aurora.
We could fault nothing. Our balcony cabin was spacious and spotless and our cabin steward was worth her weight in gold. Nothing was too much for her and you could have eaten from the floors.
Our waiting staff in the dining room were excellent and the entertainment was well timed and there was an excellent choice of shows, acts etc that corresponded with the dining times so that all had a chance to view. Staff were friendly and very helpful and although there were almost 2000 on board, we never failed to find our own spotless little niche to relax in without crowds of people.
Waiting staff were very attentive. As a nurse mananger from a former cruise line, the attention paid to hand hygeine on the ship to avoid Norovirus was exemplary. It was just unfortunate that two weeks after we disembarked, Aurora was struck by the virus. We both said and still do, that we would sail on her tomorrow and still not complain. She was the first and best cruise experience that we have ever had.
Bad Points: None
General comments: Simply the best!! None of the other ships that we have cruised on come close and the next cruise on Aurora that fits with my shift work, we will be there
