I have owned this product since 2004 and like other reviewers, have had problems since the beginning with the need to defrost the freezer 2 or 3 times per year. I pointed this out several times during the warranty period but Hotpoint simply sent out an engineer who defrosted the freezer. On one occasion they suggested that I may be leaving the door open ! They replaced the control board, but that made no difference. All the freezer shelf trays became cracked or broken. I took out an insurance cover with Indesit through domestic and general and they immediately replaced the shelf trays! Recently the diplay panel started flashing. They said they could not get a replacement part, so they have given me a new unit - hurray. Unfortunately it's a Hotpoint.

I bought this freezer after recommendations in Which some time ago. (I also like to add that this is the second item, recommended by Which, that has turned out a bad purchase)

The freezer needs to be regularly defrosted, which is not why I chose a frost free freezer! The plastic drawers become brittle quickly and snap off until they are longer of any use. The temperature control is poor and I often have to turn on the fast freeze option to get it to the correct temperature again. I cannot tell you how many times I have got up in the morning to find that the freezer red light for low temperature is showing and my food defrosting. The service from Hotpoint is terrible. Never, EVER buy this freezer.

I have had my Hotpoint F200E for 4 years. In that time it has continiously frozen up and beeping on and off with lights flashing. Hotpoint service is awful engineer £120 I am outraged!!!!!!

Hotpoint FFA47X Fridge/freezer. Type CMO1FF
Delivered with dent in one door. They supplied and fitted a new door. One door sprung open a tiny bit, for about three hours. That blew the circuit board. All the lights bleeping - VERY quietly. Not very clever. Hotpoint failed to arrive when appointment made, then called the next day when we were out. Threw the new circuit board through the letterbox onto a hard floor. They called and fitted it. It did not work. They got another. Did not throw this one on the floor!! It worked. Front of top freezer draw snapped off. Front of salad draw snapped off. Brittle, thin, flimsy plastic, especially when very cold.....Wife allowed one door to stay open a tiny crack - about couple of millimetres - last night. That's blown the circuit board again. The most unreliable piece of poorly made junk that I have ever owned. I still have my father-in-laws old chest freezer, in the laundry room, 40 years old. Still works - silently. The workmanship, quality, and service from Hotpoint stinks.

This has been our worst ever buy, for a fridge freezer! Our Electolux lasted 17 years without any major problems!
This Hotpoint frost free, Fridge/freezer has had problems within the first 8-10 months, and has build up of frost all the time in the freezer!
they tell us to defrost!
It had a frayed open wire in the door!
Does not keep constant temp all the time.
And now the fridge part with all warm temperature, and cannot adjust it!
It is rubbish product, and do not recommend at all to buy this!!

Don't buy this fridgefreezer. The hotpoint RF187BG fridgefreezer will work great for 6 months. It will then occasionally lose its ability to stay cold and remain tepid. The manufacturer will delight in sending round an engineer who will tell you it needs re-charging with a gas. They will do this for you and 6 months later it will be faulting again. We have been constantly plagued by this problem for 2 years now and every time Hotpoint refuses to give us a new fridgefreezer under our warranty - insisting they can fix it! My advice is to stick with a simple Lec. We have had one of these in the garage for 20 years and it never stops working. So much for modern technology. The cost of food wastage is an outrage.

Disastrous. Continual de-frosting. Intermittent piercing alarm at all hours of day and night. Unsafe to leave food in freezer section. Totally unreliable.
Usurious repair rates quoted by Indesit Group of £105 with 90 warranty or £165 with 1 year warranty
Writing off to experience as lost all trust in brand and so will never buy Hotpoint again.

this FF has given me several years of problems - it was broken down 6 times and each time i got a different reason from Indesit (the makers) who just continously repaired it, only to break down again a few weeks later - i even wrote to the service director and he was not helpful, syaing that as it was insured we could repair it as much as we liked!!!!

Clearly, the worst piece of rubbish hotpoint have ever produced.
I purchased this fridge freezer for aprox £700 about 5 years ago and have had nothing but bother with the awful freezer section.
This product should have been re-called as the problem is a big issue.
Not only did it cost me £700 it roughly stands me at over £1200 in repairs, food and phone call's to indiset who are the same company as hotpoint by the way!!.

The worst purchase ever. The freezer section constantly defrosts and we've been woken every other night for weeks with the defrost alarm going off. We've lost so much frozen food and Hotpoint customer services have been appalling. The parts are impossible to get a hold of and it's only after reading these reviews am I beginning to understand why - this has been a donkey of a product for Hotpoint and they refuse to support it with spare parts. Meanwhile there's a load of customers out there who've wasted money on a product that is not fit for purpose. Am replacing the fridge but will NEVER buy Hotpoint again.

After 4 years we have finally given up with this Fridge/Freezer. After numerous call outs, replacement parts and a waste of money warranty. Its about to be thrown, we won't even give it away its so bad. Has ruined so much frozen food. Constantly beeps, defrosts itself, the fan has packed up 3 times.

Its total crap... will never buy a hotpoint Frige/Freezer ever again.

my hotpoint ffa47x frost free hit the 12 month mark and started acting crazy. freezer hits defrost mode and thaws half of my food. Called n and the lady actually said she had never heard of this problem before so I directed her to this web site. Hads a Amana that my mother gave me before that I seemed to have lasted for 20 + years. Never buy a hotpoint Never never never

Hotpoint FFA47x Frost Free is a fabulous Fridge/Freezer. Large capacity and has some really useful features

After spending the whole day defrosting my Hotpoint FFA47x FROST FREE fridge freezer i am completely annoyed. I have had nothing but trouble since the day i bought it and engineers have been out 3 times whilst under warranty. One time the engineer actually looked at me like i was a prize idiot and said "well all you have to do is defrost it"!!!! un-believable.

My Hotpoint FFA47x Frost Free has put me off frost free fridge freezers forever. My hotpoint dishwasher is still going after 12 year. I'm going back to a normal fridge freezer,maybe a bosch.indesit havnt got them yet as far as i know. ill never buy hotpoint again

The Hotpoint FFA47x frost free lets itself down. The fridge beeps at you if you leave the door open, the freezer doesn't! But it does beep at you when you come down in the morning to let you know that it has defrosted. Work that one out!if it was quieter and freezer door shut better or had alarm to let you know you left it open, it would be amazing. But unless you keep it well away from bedrooms, forget it.
