Good Points: Stylish unit looks good, inside and out. I have had this fridge for 5 years and it hasn't broken down or required any service call-out.

Bad Points: The manual has only four words to say about defrosting: "The fridge defrosts automatically". After three years of use (at the safety-recommended temperature of 5 degrees), the ice started to build up into a thick column all the way down the centre back of the fridge and it is a major pain to defrost as it has no lip or channel to direct the water out.

General comments: I would say that AEG is one of the better kitchen appliance brands and I have been generally pleased with this Santo 3688 KA6 fridge. But the unit does not defrost automatically and, even if it did, it is just plain crazy not to include any consumer advice on defrosting in the manual.

I do not like the AEG Santo 3688 KA6. It is a terrible fridge, it does not defrost properly. Would not buy again particularly at this price.

The AEG Santo is well made and stylish and I would recommend it whole heartedly save for the major problem listed under bad points. It takes me half a day and a bottle of Meltaway rapid deicer to partly dismantle the frdige by removing the covers over the cooler unit of the back lining of the unit and leaving it to thaw.
I have the matching freezer unit and that is really good but the problem is that I need and new fridge and then I will not have a matching pair.

I experienced poor service team members except for when taking my money. Seems Electrolux have a poor opinion of it's customers. I will never ever buy AEG again.

The AEG Santo 3688 is nicely styled and looks good in the kitchen with the rest of my stainless appliances.

Supposed to be one of the best German electrical companys, I think that they are trying to get back at us for winning ww2. A lot of money when it breaks down about every 18 months/2years.
Would not recommend AEG Santo 3688-6KA to anyone

I purchased the AEG SANTO 3688-6 KA three years ago and since day one this unit has been awful. Do not buy this or the new range. You may wonder why AEG have discontinued this unit after such a short time, its terrible. The main problem is the digital display, it over freezes everything in the fridge and then decides to come up with a whole array of unknown symbols. Avoid at all costs, we have had this item just over four years and have had two major failures in that time. The latest has been the gas has leaked and as a result the fridge is now completely useless and has to be binned.
Response from AEG is appalling, arrogant and just not interested. They have flatly refused to answer my calls, have not responded to emails or letter and eventually when i got a response it was rude voicemail basically telling me where to go!!!

If I did not have a matching freezer I wound not hesitate to throw my AEG Santo 3688 KA6 fridge out. It started to freeze up at the back. I had 5 visits by repairers, and it has cost several hundred pounds, but it is still the same. AEG have just offered me a part ex, as they say it is uneconomical to repair.

AEG Santo 3688 KA6 - UK AEG Customer care, I have to say, are the most unhelpful people I have had the misfortune to speak with. My stainless steel cupboard, I mean fridge, has been broken down and not worked for three weeks in a row. It is now cooling after the fourth engineer visit but now it's making a racket (Which the 'customer care' person could not hear when I put the phone next to the fridge but I can even in the next room!). I had one AEG Santo 3688 KA6 fridge that lasted 10 months then the temperature went. I have now just had the second breakdown with the same problem.
