The original playstation took the world by storm it had massive potential back in the early days and soon had a great catalogue of games for it. The machine really set the standard and showed the world how to make a great piece of kit.

I would recommend this console to anyone, they was all good games for the Plastation 1. If you like great fishing games, this is the console for you as they are all on it.. my only negative point is I think it should be a little bigger, for me everything was a little too small.

“I remember the day I got my Playstation second hand...”

★★★★☆

written by Cognition on 08/04/2007

I remember the day I got my Playstation second hand for £40 from a friend. This was the next step up from my Sega (can't remember the model) so obviously the leap in quality was pretty amazing.

With it I got a stack of old demo disks with little bits of games on them. My favourite was an Ace Combat demo which was pretty extreme at the time.

The two games I remember playing more than anything else were Worms and Hogs of War. I used to love those games more than anything - I first got addicted to them when I used to go round another friends house where we'd play them for hours on end.

Anyway, let's talk console. Unfortunately mine broke only about a week after I got it. The little thing inside that spins the disk round fell off - amazingly this happened at the same time as the Playstation 2 was released, so, as you would, I took the opportunity to talk my grandparents into buying me one. Once we had the PS2 all set up and ready to go, the Playstation was thrown out for some reason.

I don't miss the Playstation too much, because you can play all of the PS1 games on the PS2, but it'd be nice to still have it lying about the place.

The Playstation - in all of it's origonal glory. Recommended to anyone for a bit of cheap fun.

Fun little machine. Good for those little kiddies that have a tendency to break stuff! Let them lose on the PS1 and save your precious PS2/PS3. Some of the games were great like final fantasy 8... cool game.
