This is everything I have ever wanted in a sports car. I have always wanted a Porsche and wanted to wait until I could afford a 911, it was on my wall as a kid. I have owned Alfa Romeos, an M3, a Mini cooper Sworks, a Honda S2000 amongst other sports cars in the past but none of them compare with the build quality and overall performance of the Boxster-s. This is the 2nd boxster-s I have owned- someone drove in to my first one (I was gutted). It really is an awesome driving experience. My advice is to go for the Sports chrono package (if you can get it) and to definitely go for the PASM. The larger wheels look great on the car but tires are costly. Overall the car simply couldn't be any better for me- it drives, feels, looks and sounds incredible and they really hold their value if you avoid dodgy interiors and buy at the right point on the depreciation curve.

Fed up with BMW and poor dealer service, a friend suggested Porsche. I gave the Boxster a try from the Porsche main dealer in Belfast. I am now on my second one which is the RS 60 Spyder. Great performance from this 3.4lt 311bhp engine. I travelled 2100 miles through France last year; it was the most comfortable journey ever. Sports seats hold you in position and the mid engine means you take roundabouts as if on rails. Top down gives you better aural pleasure with a superb sports exhaust. With fab residual values this is the car to have. Check out the new boxster, very nice.

Last year i bought a boxster 3.2s After owning bmw 330 for 8 years it was difficult finding a replacement, was originaly looking at slk 350 (55 amg out of price range) as i fancied a convertible, and wanted a sports car rather than a cruiser like the bmw.have not looked at an slk since buying 3.2s and cant believe i considered one.the porsche is so poised precise and being convertible it just adds an extra element to the overall enjoyment of driving.you can get lots of luggage in it enough for a week away.the car looks great and i never get let out of junctions which proves it.performance is great but am not sure if its very fast as no one races me anymore.it takes no more fuel than my bmw and running costs are affordable.rear tyres are expensive £260 each as they are porsche fitment something which might bother high milage drivers,i want to keep this car forever.

Hi there, I drove and tested lots and lots of cars and came up with a
Conclusion that, anyone who didn't drive a porsche, he/she didn't drive a
car.
I bought my Porsche boxterS convertible in April 2009.As soon as I took the
car out of the showroom. The sales man called me to congratulate me on the
purchase and I told him that I would still be happy about the car even if
you doubled the price. The first few weeks I was unable to look neither
left nor right while driving the car because everyone is looking at me.
Children boys girls men and women. I felt that I am the only one who
actually has a car. Everyone started to come up with excuses to talk to me.
I call that Porsche "magic". I can look at anybody on the eye with smile on
my face while am driving the car. Clearly he/she would like to be in my
place. The feedbacks from all of my friends are positive. My car has a 310
horse power and it can accelerate up to 300 Km/h. I mean how much power you want. Of course am talking about the roads here In the UAE (Dubai). It is
not designed for high speeds. Bottom line is that, the car is remarkably great. So if you are married buy a Boxter S and see if your wife didn't feel jealous from all the compliments you get. Also, if you are single and you like Grabbing-attention BoxterS is what you looking for. I just wanted to share my thoughts and say "thank you" to the people who are responsible of bringing Porsche to our lives.

Just bought a 2004 Porsche Boxster 3.2 S on 44,000 miles and I cant tell you how pleased I am with the whole driving experience and the looks I from the neighbours. However, after reading several articles over the past week or so, I am getting concerned over running costs associated with known problems which exist with this model, such as brake corrosion and sticking.
Perhaps I am just being pesimistic and I should make my own mind up after I have owned it for a bit longer.....here goes, i'm off for a long drive!

So far the Porsche Boxster has met all my expectations. Being a complete bike buff - I decided that I needed to start considering safety over 2 wheels. I therefore needed a car that went beyond a bike. Apart from not being able to filter through traffic this car is superb. The bike is currently up for sale - that has to be a very positive report!

I have driven quick cars for years but the Porsche Boxster 3.2 S is something else. I test drove a couple of 2.5 Boxsters before I bought the 3.2. The difference is like chalk and cheese. The acceleration is spine tingling. The handling is frightening in a nice way. Learn to trust it and almost nothing can go round corners like this. My wife and I invent places to go at the weekend just to drive the car on twisty A roads. Large grins from start to finish. As a bonus the sound this car makes is like music ranging from a deep subdued throaty noise at 1500 revs to an absolute howl at 7000.
Don't test drive a Boxster S unless you really intend buying. After this anything else is disappointing.

This is a fantastic car. It oozes quality, and it is a pleasure to own and drive. The drive is immensely satisfying, and the sound from that engine is addictive. The thrill of acceleration is similar only to a very large motorcycle, but with much more comfort (unless of course you can afford super cars). The feedback from the steering is faultless, as is the overall handling of the Porsche Boxter S. You never feel you have reached the cars limitations. I have had many cars, most of which being BMW's, but this car is the only one my wife and I have ever wanted to just take out and drive for the sake of driving! With the Boxster S, even travelling to work on a Monday morning becomes enjoyable.

I'd hoped that this Porsche Boxster 3.2 S would be the best car I'd ever owned, and in many ways it is. But the ownership experience has been severly undermined, problems with suspension linkages, which seem to be made of industrial grade chocolate. Bits coming loose, water leaking in through the door, oil leaking out, ball joints, coil packs etc etc.
But when it's all working, and the weather's fine, and the roof's down, somehow it nearly all makes sense.
However, I can't see me buying another Porsche.

Believe the hype, this Porsche Boxster 3.2 S sports car is fabulous. Put away your Porsche prejudices and just enjoy the experience of the finest 2 seater this side of a 360 Modena. Use it every day, drop the roof when the winter sun shines and feel the glow of running the best roadster that sensible money can buy.
I ran one for 40 months and 40,000 miles of year round driving in the UK. I was going to get the hard top but decided after one winter that it wasn't necessary. Only in the wettest most miserable monsoon conditions did I wish I was driving something taller and 4wd.
For a car that is capable of 160mph and with the sublime balance that only a mid engine can bring, the Boxster is remarkably unintimidatimg to drive in town or country. It always made me smile and was still amazing me when I had to let it go.
One day I will get another - hopefully by then they will do the 300 bhp RS version.
If you can afford to spend GBP£40K and don't need 4 seats there really is no other choice.

After lusting after a Porsche for long enough to save up and buy one, the reality certainly lives up to the expectation. I love this car and I can see why they have stayed top of their game for so long. The car seems to have a split personality which makes it easy to live with as it adapts to various challenges of day to day life. The performance and handling allow you to thunder about the place at alarming speeds without ever seeming to approach the limits of cars ability. However, it will also cruise quietly and comfortably at speed allowing you to chill out with your favourite CD. The roof seems very well insulated and gives you all the isolation a tin top provides. A Boxster however looks best with its top down and despite having to karate chop the rear window to get it to fold properly, the top stows neatly and quickly. This of course allows you to listen to the fantastic sound the flat six makes as it whines up and down the rev range. The engine is turbine smooth and encourages you to drive around in 2nd gear just to listen to that noise. Boot space is OK with a deep compartment at the front and a shallow one at the back - two suitcases are perfectly feasable. My main gripe is that the Satalite Navigation system moves the climate controls down infront of the gear lever obscuring the display and some of the buttons. If it swapped places with the Navigation system drive above it, the problem would be solved. Whilst on that subject, its also strange that the Navigation system drive which you need about once every two years to change discs, is inside the car, whereas the CD changer is hidden away in the boot. Its a great car though and I'm sure will be one of Porsche's greatest design classics in years to come.

I recently bought a Porsche Boxster 3.2 S speed. This car is everything they say it is. Unbelieveable torque off the line that just keeps increasing. It's like taking off the deck of an aircraft carrier. The handling is so sensitive that you almost become one with car. Strongly recommend buying one - you only live once.

I bought the Porsche Boxster 3.2 S 2 weeks ago. It's all the fun of the fair. Press the fast pedal and it goes stupidly fast. Press the stop pedal and it stops, but you have to press hard, so make sure your quads are up to it.
Steering is as sharp as a sharp thing with extra sharp bits added for extra sharpness. Unlike the Lotus Elise I drove while choosing which got horrbly twitchy over 69 mph
Gear change can be a bit lumpy but not obstructive. Apparently the gearbox is right at the rear of the car, which means long linkages.
Grip is great, though you can get the back end out of line by pressing the throttle too soon coming out of a corner, if you don't know how to deal with that don't buy this car.
Tons of fun for tons of cash

I have owned the car from new since Jul 02 and it's been fantastic. It is always a pleasure to drive with terrific handling and peformance. There has been nothing go wrong at all - the only thing I asked to be attended to in addition to its first service was a slight rattle from the roof which was sorted with no charge. One slightly bizarre comment I would make is probably more a criticism of me as opposed to the car - I find it slightly uninvolving. For a car with the performance that it has it almost too easy! I'm now considering its replacement and am considering a TVR - see I said it was bizarre!

oh dear, TVR you must like the AA!

Try an S2000 much quicker than the Boxster, better looking and cheaper too!
Outhandles the Porsche every time

i bought a 2003 3.2 s last week and wow is it a great car. i have owned M3s etc but nothing pulls like this off the line, so much torque. mine seems nicer to drive with the hood down, its mega noisy with roof up, engine and wind noise, but so so nice with it down, i could drive it all day.
Written on: 03/11/2005
soo true, the Boxster S beats the Honda 2000S everytime. But I will give you that the Honda is a great car too, nice to hold, but dull interior...
Written on: 25/03/2004
Having test driven both the Honda and the Porsche, I bought the Boxster S.
Written on: 24/03/2004
Further to my original review, I've got over my disillusionment with the car and am now enjoying it as much as I ever did; I've also test driven a TVR and realise that they have a long way to go in terms of build quality!
revvyman - you obviously haven't driven a Boxster S - the Honda doesn't even come close. I'd like to see any motoring report anywhere that rates the S2000 above a Boxster (excepting any written by Honda themselves!)

Uninvolving in that it lets you know what's happening so well? Or uninvolving meaning it doesn't turn heads?

I also have a 3.2 S. There is no substitute! Drive any other car including the BMW M model of the Z4, Honda 2000, Audi TT, Corvette or Mercedes and you'll come back to the Porsche 3.2S. On the high end, drive the 3.2 S against it's big brothers or any other high-end exotic and you still will find yourself wondering if the extra money you'll pay for one of these cars is worth the thousands you'll pay for one of them. The Boxster "S" is in a class of it's own.
