“Not Recieved Product”

After ordering a product online on the 13-01-13 I still have not recieved it, however they have gone into administration which I understand. However, I've been waiting nearly 2 weeks now and I've contacted those who have taken over HMV and still had no reply in over a week after various emails. I am now wanting a full refund when I get the item to send it back and to get information on how to take it back. Still taking more time than any other delivery would. (read more)

A present hmv currently find themselves in more bother, now in administration. As a regular customer of hmv and normally pleased I am very peeved off at how a company you think you can trust and put your hard earned money into can get in a position like this. I purchased a £50 gift card and received a £30 gift card at xmas which is not not accepted yet hmv still continue to trade .. I have no idea how this is possible. Do not read the other reviews on this website, most people only write reviews if they have one bad experience. HMV is a great shop, there are many reasons why you should support it instead of Amazon: 1. It does not avoid paying tax 2. It employs a lot more people than Amazon do, if they were to close, the high street would just be a place full of coffee shops. 3. HMV donate money every year to Teenage Cancer charities, Amazon do not mention anywhere that they donate money to charity. 4. It... (read more)

“Poor customer service and trading ethics”

No refunds nor exchange on opened present from my husband. Despite the returns policy on all the walls that the product must be in original packaging, with the receipt and return within 21 days, this means nothing, I have checked their website returns policy which states that DVDs must be unopened, this is a docking station. Beware before your part with your hard earned cash, think twice and then think again before shopping at hmv (read more)

I ordered an item weeks ago for a Christmas gift, there were plenty showing in stock at the time and the order was allowed to go through. 4 days before Christmas I get an email saying the item is out of stock. I am now left unable to order from anyone else in time. The audacity to then suggest I go into one of their stores and buy a completely different gift from them really bugged me. Whilst shopping in HMV in Stockport I arrived at the check out and realised that the Gift Card, which incidentally can't be used on line despite the fact that this is the way so many people shop, was not in my bag. I had already the day before gone to the HMV shop in the Trafford Centre but they didn"t have the particular CD's. Went for a shopping spree to Leeds today because I hadn't been there before and wanted to go shopping somewhere new. I went in to the HMV store there and bought a PS3 game. Took it to the counter and got served by a young girl who was too busy giggling at her co worker. She took the payment off me and put the item in a bag. I read constantly about HMV and their diminsing turnover and profits however, the past 2 times I have visited an HMV store I have been in a large queue waiting to pay and on both occasions, along with other people in the queue just left the items and walked out of the shop. The reason, whilst behind the tills are a number of staff only 1 or 2 are actually taking money the other student type staff seem to be busying them selves tidying or labelling or anything other than serving. Spent over 150 pounds in Bolton store where as i normally order online and have no problems.Anyway got home and left the presents at my boyfriend emtpy flat so kids dont see them.Next day when wrapping kids christmas presents, the calenders i paid for where not in bag.So went in store with receipt and saw same girl from day before. ordered DS game that site said was in stock... 3 weeks later no news and no item rang customer services that could hardly be bothered - told me stick still in warehouse and would take additional 2 weeks to come...promised to call warehouse and call me back, of course she didn't! rang in a further 2 weeks and was meant by another customer services lady equally uncaring and still quoting plus 2 weeks wait time I would recommend people to spend their money with a company that cares about... I was asked for ID for a 12-rated Lost season 1 box set, and I'm 20 years old. I'm 5 feet tall, but I don't have the face, clothes or hairstyle/make-up etc of an 11 year old child! Then when I left the shop, I noticed there was a huge sticker wrapped around the sleeve I'd need to peel off to get to the DVDs. My wife and I bought the same DVD collection for each other for Xmas.
I got mine from TESCO and my wife got hers from HMV.
We made the decision to return the DVD collection to the Grimsby store as we do not use HMV that much.
My wife had to go into town after Xmas so popped back to the HMV store. She returned with a card, credited with £28.
She had paid cash for the DVD collection but was told that the only way she could return the goods was to have the amount on "THAT CARD."

I will not be using HMV again!!!
I saw a 4 film blu-ray box-set on a good offer at the Trafford Centre store but had previously bought 2 of the films included in the box-set about a week earlier. I was unsure whether or not the 2 films I had bought earlier were still in the original packaging so I decided to buy the 4 film box-set in cash with the intention of returning the 2 films if they were still unopened.

It looks like most ppl had it worse than me. When I read that HMV doesn't refund for unopened CDs, I was astonished. Mine's the case with open CD.
I actually bought 2 CDs for my sister. I asked to listen to these at the store, so the employee opened the packaging and let me listen to it. Believing that I had the right CDs that my sis asked for, I bought them. But when I bought them, the employee didn't repackage the CDs for me.

Terrible shop, not enough staff. I go to college in the area so go in there occasionally with friends, every time I have been in during November/December the queue has been to the back of the shop and through the aisles of DVD's and CD's that there are also customers trying to look for. The staff aren't willing to put themselves out to help you find something and just say to ask the checkout (which you have to queue up to do). Everytime I walk into HMV I immediately feel annoyed, it is always cramped, people put everything everywhere on the wrong shelves, none of the workers seem to know very much about their products and half the time when they say they sell something they actually don't. At HMV prices are not clear.At one store you'll find offers at £15 then you go to another(HMV) the price of the same item is £25. I asked to a member of staff and he assure the price was correct. Beware - expensive store with no price match or refund policy!
I always shopped at HMV because I thought their selection was good and always got value for money from a store I trusted. However yesterday I bought a £40 game, and found it in 2 shops for £5 less not 100 yards away in the same street. Returned to HMV to find that they won't match the price or refund - yes I know it's on the signs that they don't refund, but I would have thought common sense have won in this case.

Normally I buy movie and TV shows on Itunes but if I am buying presents then I always go to this HMV. They always have great selection of not too old movies on special offer. The best are their for £20 offers. You can normally get four for £20 which is better than Virgin or Asda. They also have a huge game section but ironically not so many CDs. HMV is a great shop in the high street where you can find loads of movies, CD's and games of a wide selection. The only problem about HMV is the prices as they are overpriced like one DVD with one disc they charge 19.99 for Jackie Chan and Jet Li movies which is way too much.
Quality of the Service - they tend to give you a pretty good service depends which store though.
