    Good Points: Food Absolutely ***** with the staff not far behind. Midnight buffet had to be seen to be believed. Immaculate ship.


    Bad Points: Poor shopping 'mall' whose prices were not far off UK high street despite claims of 40-50% discounts.
    Very few English speaking passengers which meant that announcements in English were last in line, if at all. Very annoying but to be expected.
    English hostess was disappointing and failed to represent properly those guests she was meant to be assisting. Very little information was forthcoming from her and in view of the small number of people involved, I felt that she should have been more pro-active in bringing us together.
    Small number of English speaking guests led to a number of excursions being cancelled due to not meeting a magical 20 with Costa not being prepared to mix nationalities/dual interpretations despite free seats being available in other vehicles.
    Docked in Olbia on Easter Sunday and experienced a town which had only one bar open. A total waste of a days sightseeing.


    General comments: Overall Costa Cruises, Costa Tropicale was a very good cruise which in my case was my first.

    General standards were very high in all departments with the only real disappointment being the lack of support to English speaking guests. A more efficient and proactive hostess could have made all the difference.

    Would not 'knock' the Costa Tropicale as I fully enjoyed my first cruise but equally could not 'recommend' it to anyone who doesn't have Italian or German as a very good second language.
