    Silent Spring by Rachel Carson is a modern classic and has to be read in the context of the time (cold war/nuclear fall out). Carson highlights the disassociation between man and nature, and how this has been perpetuated into the 21st century by large multi-national companies who are only striving to make a dollar.     Rachel Carson,Lord Shackleton, Silent Spring - Carson's argument on banning DDT was powerful. We have banned certain pesticides at home, but we still produce them and export them to other countries. I didn't think this book was very interesting and I didn't think this book was very dull either. It made me think about some of the current issues today that deal with pesticides.
