The Multiple Apendixes In The Back Of Overlord: D-

The multiple apendixes in the back of Overlord: D-Day and the Battle for Normandy, 1944 describe evertyhing; Definitions, codenames, and all the formations in Normandy. Only bad point is the author names people by last names, some are not identifiably beyond that. 10 stars

Max Hastings, Overlord: D-day And The Battle For N

Max Hastings, Overlord: D-Day and the Battle for Normandy, 1944 (Pan Grand Strategy Series) - Excellent work. Max Hastings' vast erudition, objectivity, attention to detail, and gripping narrative style really recommend themselves throughout this masterly work. Mr. Hastings has unfortunately accrued a lot of opprobrium in certain revisionist circles for his unstinting praise of the fighting qualities of the Wehrmacht and the Waffen SS. However, I feel that if an historian is not allowed to call a spade a spade, the historical community as a whole would be dealt a great disservice.
