“Courier drivers regularly ignore delivery Instructions”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 08/02/2023

Despite contacting Amazon on several occasions, deliveries continue to be left in a public hallway rather being delivered to our front door. Today I had to struggle up 3 flights of stairs with a big box - difficult at my age. This inability to adhere to customer preferences shows total disrespect.

“Really going downhill”

★★☆☆☆

written by Saunders224 on 07/03/2020

I have been buying on Amazon for many years, I have spent thousands of pounds on there over time. But recently when buying from China I have had an awful experience. I bought Peacock feathers which were dull, dirty and full of holes. I have just received an order of what was meant to be 100 pheasant feathers and received 35! I think some of Amazons sellers are atrocious. You cannot miscount 100 and come up with 35. Usually buying from the UK is ok, but I have had orders go missing in the past due to what I believe is the stupidity of their couriers who chuck parcels any given place. I would advise people NOT to purchase from China on Amazon. Although Amazon say they have contacted the seller, I don't believe a seller who short changes you to that extent is going to be of much help. When I had finished speaking to the Amazon advisor I was locked out of my account too, that is nice isn't it? So I complain about a bad seller and they lock me out. Sadly Amazon is going down hill dramatically like every other site who allows China to spam with items which are defective or don't exist. I was going to purchase an expensive exercise bike, I will take my business elsewhere now. Shoddy!

“Poor service getting worse”

★★☆☆☆

written by Fatbloke11 on 01/02/2018

I have been an Amazon Prime subscriber for years- so many I have forgotten. I use Amazon as my primary goto place when I want something. I would be what they consider a heavy user. The service they offer is a next day delivery service and this is great- click and order next day it arrives. My last three orders have been a nightmare- when you get a delivery day and a tracking number you expect them to work. When you look at the tracking once it goes to out for delivery that's it no more information- if you get it on the date its due great but if not that's it its lost in the either. First order two days late, second order 3 days late, third order still not arrived (now 3 days late). As you can imagine I have called and written to Amazon to find out whats going on, I have been given some great excuses- don't know/cant find your address/you were not in/dont know. After each call or written session I have been promised someone will call me to explain whats going on- no one ever calls back. Then I discovered that Amazon had cancelled my Prime account. Long story short I called them again and kicked off and they gave me six months free Prime and £15 credit. Poor poor service and would advise to pester them for decent compensation.

“Some issues starting to occur with Amazon now!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Jules1979 on 28/12/2016

I have been buying from Amazon for years now but this last year I have started to see some unnerving issues begin to arise. Nov 2015 I ordered some expensive diabetic sweets for my Dad for a xmas present, what I had delivered was an empty cardboard sleeve! The cardboard sleeves they use for books which have a fold over tab on each end and holes at either side of each tab. Who in their right frame of mind sends a bag of sweets in a sleeve with holes in! The bag of sweets had evidently fell out during transit, I had a post office bag around the sleeve informing me the contents did not exist. I dutifully requested a refund and sent the laughable sleeve and post office bag back to the seller using the Collect+ service which guarantees they have received it - I have never yet been given a refund, the seller ignores my contact and Amazon are protecting their underhanded activity! Every time I try and post a negative review it gets rejected! Thank god it was sweets - I would have had to have courts and police involved had it been a higher priced item - it's extremely off putting though that Amazon allow the taking of peoples money for non delivery of an item! Would it have really took a mass amount of intelligence to put a bag of sweets in a jiffy bag! The packaging choice was blatantly ludicrous! Alas I still do use Amazon and here is where the second problem occured - I ordered an expensive bottle of vintage rum that my other half requested for xmas, I came home to a card one day that had zero name on it! didn't know if it was something for me or my partner as we both expected parcels, it had zero details for contacting the driver, zero contact details for absolutely anything! As the legal owner of the parcel I had no rights to have options to get it delivered apparently! The card only tells you that they will try 3 times and then permanently take your loved one's gift and give you a refund! I didn't want a refund! Then the annoyance of having to go on the chat thing starts up and trying to point out that the driver needs to know when I am in or I may never get the parcel as I work to pay for these parcels! By the grace of god the driver turned up with it then as I was on the chat. Not brilliant especially at xmas time when it means a lot to people to have things delivered!

“Inaccurate tracking system, hard to contact ”

★★☆☆☆

written by 470Milne on 12/12/2016

I'm shocked by my experience with amazon, I ordered a lot of items through them for Christmas as I have ordered multiple items successfully over the last few years, I became concerned on this occasion as a large number of orders consisting of multiple individual items showed as being delivered but had not arrived although a number of items had arrived that were still showing as in transit. It appeared to me to be an obvious administrative error but I was concerned about it as I was worried in case any of the items showing as already delivered did not arrive at all. It was extremely hard to contact customer services and when I eventually got on the chat line I felt the assistant did not seem to fully understand the problem and made me feel dishonest, I received no reassurance whatsoever, I have spent thousands of pounds through this website over the years and had placed my order quite confidently. After years of thinking amazon was a great website and a first point of call for purchases I now have little confidence in ordering through them anymore after this experience.

“Delivery Nightmare!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Carla1509 on 22/12/2015

The products themselves are absolutely fine once I received them. My delivery experience has been a total nightmare. One attempt to deliver last week, left a card saying they would try again...nothing! I logged onto my account which advised it had been delivered to a neighbour under a surname I didn't recognise...no neighbour had these. Spoke to an Amazon agent yesterday (21/12/15) advised of the situation who resolved perfectly and re-issued my goods. My parcels arrived 22/12/15 however I logged online today to find a name I don't recognise signed for my parcels. I know full well who signed for them and shame on the delivery drivers for making up false names! No wonder I couldn't find my parcels first time round...such a shame!

“delivery charges”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 02/01/2015

Basically Amazon is a great online market but the market place of other companies under the Amazon umbrella is not so good since their delivery charges appear uncontrolled. I live in Spain and recently paid 29 pounds for delivery of a mobility stroller and at present being charged 30 pounds for a coffee maker a fraction of the weight of the stroller. Amazon should have more control over deliveries or alternatively have a single courier .

“delivery and returns”

★★☆☆☆

written by Neilv97 on 09/12/2014

Really disappointed in the cost of the delivery, shows as shipping charges £7.22 when both items came from England and I am in Scotland. I then have to go online to request a refund which I am then informed will cost me £7.74 to take to the post office or £6 to be collected. This charge will be deducted from my refund.1st item was £10.69 2nd item was £10.66. Total was £21.35. So for two small items I have paid out more than half of the cost of them on postage. Next time I will certainly think twice before ordering from Amazon unless I am 100% sure.

“Lots of badly listed products ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Shermone on 25/09/2013

Typical example I bought a snorkel turned out it was a cheap Chinese quality non branded but because the seller listed it along with some good quality items you instinctively go for the bit cheaper 1 because it looks great in the picture. But when you actually get it delivered straight away I could tell id been ripped off. Amazon is good for some things electronics etc but you have to be very careful not to get tricked still.

“Delivery is so slow nowdays”

★★☆☆☆

written by samparker37 on 12/04/2013

I have used Amazon for 10 years now and since they introduced Prime, my delivery times have gone from 1-2 days, to 7 on average. I appreciate its a ploy to get people to pay them £49 to join prime, but I am not interested in that, and am upset that they would deliberately slow down good customers orders. Over the last few weeks, if I order with super saver delivery it always takes around 4-5 days for them to dispatch, and arrives on or around 7 days. (they advertise 3-5 days) I have ordered with first class, and they send it second class, and even with expedited 3 orders now have taken 3 days (they claim 1 working day). This is consistently the case, not a one off, so I am done with them.

“I was just a number and not a customer”

★★☆☆☆

written by owend on 18/02/2013

Bought a phone from them. Never turned up. Chased. Chased. Chased. Eventually they gave up and sent another one. Chased. Chased. Finally turns up. A week later, the original phone was dropped on my doorstep. No card. No proof of delivery, just a £400 phone sitting there. Emailed amazon. did they care. No they didn't. Still haven't picked up this second phone yet either.

“Use Hard Disk”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 28/09/2012

I ordered a new Western Digital 500GB, well it was so called a new one. On booting it up in my Mac, I found that it had been partition for a Windows PC. Not only this but it still had information on it from the previous owner, now remember this was supposed to be a new drive. I did not read this information, and formatted the drive to take my Apple software. Which it did with no problems. I go in touch with Amazon, by E-mail, and within minutes they phone back. The option was that I could return the drive to then and they would send me a new one, which I was suppose to have in the first place. Or they would give me 15% off the price I payed then which was £49.98p. NO saying sorry for not delivering the correct goods I ordered, nor any offer to refund in full the £49.98p. Then to top it all, no assurance that they would take any steeps to stop this from happening again to other customers. All in all very bad customer service.

“Website/Products fine - Dispatch Process is Terrible”

★★☆☆☆

written by Optimiser on 15/09/2012

Amazon always used to be first class on their deliveries. When they were selling mainly books you could order a book one day and know that it would be dispatched that day and arrive the following day. Recently I have had some really bad experiences with amazon.co.uk on the dispatch side. I have ordered goods and paid for first class post only to find that they didn't dispatch the goods that day - what I aks myself is the point of paying for first class post if they don't dispatch the goods the same day? Recently I ordered some goods and the website expressly stated that if I ordered the goods within the next couple of hours I would receive the goods the following day. So, I ordered the goods and paid for first class post to ensure they arrived the following day only to find that they haven't even dispatched the goods by the following day and with the weekend intervening the goods wouldn't be dispatched until Monday of the following week. Needless to say, I am going to cancel my account with Amazon in protest about the appalling dispatch processes that they have today.

“Amazon deletes negative feedback”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/08/2012

Amazon have one very important thing going for them - their returns policy which is excellent. I've used Amazon for years and always been pleased with my purchases apart from when it involves their Market Place traders. Apologies to the genuine Market Place Traders but there are a lot of very dodgy ones on Amazon. Getting just an invoice is often impossible; why? well, I don't know but the only time I have come across traders who won't give an invoice has been with those working on the 'black' economy but you have to come to your own conclusion regarding this. I've given Amazon a thumbs down though because recently I bought a PC desk from a rogue trader on Amazon and gave him polite negative feedback on the grounds that he was non-contactable and didn't respond to my messages via Amazon of a problem that I had with the purchase. Amazon published the feedback but somehow the trader got it deleted again and his rating went back to 100%. Subsequently over the next four days other buyers gave him consistent bad feedback and his rating fell to 50% - my feedback was vindicated and his trading days under his existing name would seem to be over I'm glad to say. Unfortunately this has left a very bad taste particularly as Amazon say they deleted my feedback because it didn't comment on the trader which of course it did, very much so, as it was the whole reason for the negative feedback. I won't buy from an Amazon Trader again because now when I view a traders feedback I can't know if all the negatives have been deleted.

Google "Amazon LiveChat." You should get the answers you require pretty quickly. I'd have to disagree with BWF25, as I find Amazon customer services the best in the country....

Customer services on most global business (including Amazon) have the service because they are obliged by regulations, not because they want to offer it. As an obligation as little time and money as possible is allocated to this division of the business. To better achieve their goal they use diversion and camouflage. The diversion consists on hiding clear support by using the words "support and help" and then sending you in a wild goose chase. Where possible they will send you to the manufacturer site and wash their hands of you. Camouflage is used by using confusing language which doesn't necessarily mean what it says but if you were to use a Thesaurus you would find that indeed the term used has another obscure meaning relating to what you want. Dishearten many a customer will give up and be soft enough to return to buy something else. Personally I am finished with Amazon. Now they even charge you for the right to privacy on Kindle and they call it discount. Fernando
