I've been ordering a few things from Amazon recently and have to say how brilliant they have been. I ordered the new Imagine Dragons CD and two days later it arrived, the same with a Bluetooth dongle and some cables I had to buy for my computer. I know it shouldn't take long to deliver things as a rule but with some firms you find yourself waiting days and days for things that should rally come next day but I have never found that with Amazon so although sometimes they are a few pence more... I have been using Amazon Prime for a number of years now and I find it excellent value for money. Want 1 CD for under a £10, can order it today and have it the next day without paying extra for postage as it's all covered under the Prime deal, it's a great money saver at Christmas time :-) Now if only they can sort out away to order via Prime from the other Amazon country websites. I ordered a Macbook Pro from Amazon. It cost 2.100 pounds. I received the wrong Macbook, one that cost 1.039 pounds. I had to wait 2 days before Amazon could complete its "enquiry" into what went wrong. I ended up calling them again. They told me the item I ordered was no longer available. I have cancelled my prime subscription and was shocked at how slow delivery now takes. It seems Amazon are deliberately slowing down processing other orders to 'encourage' people to join prime. If often now pay for 'guaranteed next day delivery' and after 2 days they have not even dispatched. Even on prime 40% of the items I ordered with their 'guaranteed next day delivery' were just sent first class. If you complaint they refund you a months subscription to this rubbish. Not sure how... I have used Amazon for 10 years now and since they introduced Prime, my delivery times have gone from 1-2 days, to 7 on average. I appreciate its a ploy to get people to pay them £49 to join prime, but I am not interested in that, and am upset that they would deliberately slow down good customers orders. Good prices (although they do tend to fluctuate daily, due to Amazon's policy of matching other similar retailers' sales) and they've always been good when I've contacted them with an issue. However, they are occasionally let down by some of the courier services they use. YODEL in particular we've had problems with and have let Amazon know about it when they've been the ones delivering particular items. When I forgot to opt out in time £49 was taken from my account. I called Amazon and they couldn't have been any nicer. The money was credited and after 3 days I had my money back. The small print on Amazon Prime clearly states that it is a trial and after I think it's 28 days if not cancelled then £49 will be debited from your account.

The small print in the email they send AFTER opting in to the trial stated that you need to cancel or have the money debited. BUT this should be disclosed BEFORE you click to opt in.
This is why companies have a link to terms and conditions and a tick box to say you have read and understood them.
Amazon will ONLY refund the money if you have not used the prime service outside the trial period. So if you accidently order something the day after not knowing that the trial is over or that you have even had the charge then they will not make a refund.
My issue is the failure to disclose the terms and conditions prior to acceptance and relying on a follow up email with these hidden at the bottom - on friend who has thanked me for raising recieved 6 emails from Amazon on the day this was sent and again it does not request that you tick to say you have read and understood....
I just think it is extremely unethical and pretty sure it breaches any financial agreement for a debited amount given that there is no check made that you have read and understood the terms of contract.
I am glad you have your money back but I am sure there are many that have not been so lucky!!!

It's clearly stated on the website under Prime---> 'Help and FAQs'. It's not in small print, it's written in something you should have read before agreeing to the Prime account. Sure, Amazon should prompt you to do so, but in order to avoid problems like this you should have just read the help section.

Carrying on a trial automatically is pretty much standard practice across the board, whether it's with a retailer or a separate subscription service. Maybe it could've been made clearer, but you should ALWAYS assume something like this is going to carry on unless you cancel it.

Books are always cheaper on Amazon compared to the high street bookshops. I have used Amazon for years now and nothing bad has ever happened. The products often come well packaged (Most occasions) and usually before the estimated delivery time. One item even arrived the next morning after delivering it the night before. Free delivery is always slow regardless of which retailer you use. Should be thankful you didn't buy at WAE+ as their idea of a "free delivery" takes up to a month for goods to materialize. Even worst are their customer service.
