    Quartered Safe Out Here is a bluntly honest, yet bittersweet account of men and their actions in (generally) the worst of circumstances. This memoir is filled with the perfect balance of humor, historical detail, high adventure, satire, philosophy and wisdom that is common to all Fraser manuscripts. However, the Cumbrian dialect, prevalent throughout the book, that Fraser attempts to mimic with phonetical spelling of dialogue, can be a bit laborious to get through at times, especially for a California boy.

    George MacDonald Fraser's, Quartered Safe Out Here is the greatest personal memoir to be written at the close of the twentieth century. This is a little known book but it is a great book nonetheless. Some men know intrinsically what is right and they are always men who could never be described as 'weak', George MacDonald Fraser is such a man.

    His description of the sickening weakness and emotionality of modern western culture are worthy of being read and absorbed by all.
