Good Points: In first few months an excellent printer with no faults.
General comments: Suggest anyone contemplating buying this Canon S820 printer looks first at the review pages. After about 15 months print quality deteriorated rapidly leaving lines across all dark colours. Found dozens of similar complaints on the net and find that it is cheapeer to buy a new printer (not Canon) than get a new print head that might not even solve the problem.

The Canon S820 is an excellent printer until you fill the ink reservoir tank (about 12 months of light home use), then you have to return it to base for the reservoir to be emptied, which costs about £60!

The Canon S820 is an excellent entry level inkjet photo printer giving high quality photo prints on a range of photo papers, even supermarket own brand.
Very hard to tell the difference between these and normal (silver halide) prints.
Very easy to set up and use. Driver has a number of good features including auto image preview.
Speed of b&w printing not exceptional but acceptable.
Highly recommended.

I've had this printer about 4 weeks and I am amazed at the photo print quality using Canon Photo Papers. Hard to tell apart from the shop prints I've had done in the past.
Text/graphics aren't too bad either and the driver is pretty good and quite easy to use with lots of options to play with.
Seperate ink tanks make this quite economical to use.
£99 from PC World (end of line sale I presume) makes this the best value for money printer I have ever seen (some places are still selli ...

Bought this canon S820 inkjet printer just a week ago.
Came with French manual (Price £60 less than in GB) Just using pictures in manual I set it up and had a test page printed in under half hour.
Ran a 4X6 borderless print off on photo pro paper supplied. I was quite amazed at the results - hard to tell from a shop print. Then tried on HP photo paper and again very good.
Quiet and quick and added advantage of separate ink wells.
Recommend to anyone wanting a good photo printer. ...
