I was at Nah Trang ( USAF ) and NKP Thailand during the War ..... While My tour was nothing like Johnnie Clarks experiences, I want to THANK HIM an Chan for their descriptions and experiences from the Jungles of Vietnam and the Areas around Vietnam. John brings to the Reader the first hand experience of Jungle Combat ...What it means to have someone you can depend on in Life & Death struggles which you live with each day. I feel this Book ( which I have read & reread many times ) is one of my very favorites and would recommend it to anyone who loves " You can't put it down type Reading " GREAT TRUE STORY " JOHNNIE ! ! ! MUCH SUCCESS TO YOU CHAN & YOUR FAMILIES

I can only say good things about Johnnie M. Clark, Guns Up! .My father in law was amachine gunner and this gave a closer look at the time that he spent in Vietnam. Most books about war to me are written very dry and boring "GUNS UP!" had me gripped from page 1.And it was written from a soldiers point of view. Not to mention he found God and made me look at my own life. Yeah a war book did that. And I want to thank all the men and women that have risked and lost there lives for this country.- Read corriedcole's review (102 words)

This is the most amazing book on the Vietnam War I've ever read. It tells a story of unimaginable courage...but more than that. It has helped me sustain my faith in the Lord during difficult times. A war book do that? Read it!- Read wheezer1's review (75 words)

what makes this book special to me is so many books written on Vietnam are written by people who were not there. But this is by a decorated combat soldier who will give you a great historical perspective and appreciation of what it means to be a soldier.- Read Guest's review (156 words)
