    Good Points: roaming ability, toughness

General comments: I have used my Ericsson A1018 for 12 years in 6 countries around the world. It once hit the road at 90kph and still worked without missing a beat, one tough phone!

The Ericsson A1018s is brilliant, could last a lifetime if that's what you want. But you have to take a break and have a rest when carrying it as it weighs a tonne. No games just what everybody had back in the late 90s.

We (the wife and I) have owned an Ericsson A1018s phone for 4 years now and it has worked flawlessly during the whole time. It has been used every day for 4 years and only now is the original battery showing signs of age!! It is by todays standards an antiquated phone, a dinosaur even! But as (4 years ago) we wanted a simple phone to make calls and send the odd text message we got it and boy are we glad we did. And no we don't work for Sony Ericsson either! This phone is like a brick, and it ...

After owning many mobile phones i cannot rate this Ericsson A1018s highly enough, There are many accessories available for the phone & it is very reliable and durable. If you want a "Phone" then go for the erricson a1018s, whilst if you want a calculator, picture messaging along with the rest of those micky mouse gimics then get a nokia ;)

I like this Ericsson A1018s mobile phone - BECAUSE IT'S A TEXTING MOBILE [FULL STOP] It is sturdily made with A HOST of adaptors which WORK The FUNCTIONS are easily Accessable. The NUMBER BUTTONS are adequately spaced - so as to be pressed one @ a time ...Interchangable facia Fairly large viewing window. IF DROPPED - you can pick it up again & Use it. IF THE BATTERY HAD A GREATER CAPACITY - I WOULD BE HAPPY USING THIS THREE YEAR OLD PHONE - FOR THREE YEARS MORE !!!

I agree the Ericsson A1018s mobile phone is stupid. I got mine from my family for my birthday and i had to act really grateful and suprised when all i really wanted to do was moan and groan! You can't get ringtones for it and if you really find any they're so bad you won't wanna torture yourself having them anyway!!

Yeah, the Ericsson A1018s is one ugly mobile phone, but be realistic do you want a phone to actually talk to someone or a cool fashion accessory? As a phone it works and if you can still get one, usually for free, then they are ok. Keep it in the car, keep it charged - no-one will steal it and you are always in touch, especially when your wheels won't turn, and you won't lose street cred being seen by your mates hanging on to a brick.

The Ericsson A1018s phone is a waste of money. there are a lot of other inexpensive but worthwhile mobiles out there. read the good and bad points for reasons. can use the darn antenna to poke muggers doesn't even have a CALCULATOR

Apparently it seems to be low price. But as its reliability is so poor is becames too expensive. It has nothing positive. Ericsson should change its activity.

I bought this set for Rs.2900/=. I have checked various venders before buying this. Almost all of them recommend this set because of its reliability and price.

The phone has the processing power of a mouse. It takes about a year to switch on and the battery will have run out by the time you have said "Black Death". The phone keeps a full signal for about 10 seconds and sometimes tells me stories about a "low reception area" when i'm right near an aerial or something!

I've always liked the classic squarish design of ericsson mobile phones. So this would be the phone to replace my old GA 628. I can see how it's moved on- it displays a proper 'Ericsson' logo when you switch it on instead of normal text like the old one. Nice clip on covers, the buttons are nice to press, accurate and not hard plastic. It's got your own melody ringer input which everyone seems to love on a mobile phone these days, but i'd much prefer a vibrate battery instead. Ever so often ...

I've had an A1018s for 15 months. In that time, while being driven around it has regularly beeped to announce the fact that it's returned to the switch-on screen for no apparent reason. It did this once in the middle of a call (which dropped out). It's regularly decided there is "No Network", but turning it off and on corrects the problem. The battery indicator is hopeless, only indicating less than full charge when the battery's about 75% discharged. I got absolutely fed up with it actually cal ...

I have had my Ericsson a1018s for nearly a year. It has been dropped, splashed with water, dropped in a pint of beer and is still surviving as good as new. A real hard phone! Many accessories to plug in the connector ie Infra-red modem so with a laptop etc you can connect to the web! Good Value phone if your after a no frills, get on with the job phone.

I had the misfortune to have this mobile phone on loan TWICE while my Nokia was being repaired. I find the menu system a complete pain in the rear and SO frustrating to use. Examples of this; you can't "hurry up" the notifications/confirmations and you have to wait 3+ seconds until "Deleted" disappears from the display. Also when you are finished making a call it always asks if you want to store the number. You have to press the NO button like 4 times before it returns you to the 'ready' sta ...

The hands-free plug broke after multiple plugging and unplugging. Same as the charger plug, luckily you do not abuse that plug so much, but it will break too, eventually. Multiple BIG problems. (went to the service whithin the first month) I have friends that are more lucky with their A1018's... you can have too. It's all a matter of luck with these phones. I wouldn't go for another Ericsson ever again!
