“Unfair Pricing”

Written on: 14/11/2014 by 392McKee (1 review written)

I contacted Aviva for auto insurance in the summer for my little convertible sports car, I was quoted and paid $254/month which I agreed to. The following month after wards I wanted to know how much it would be to change to a different vehicle, 2007 Lexus. I was quoted $460/month, I have emails proving all of this. The next following two months payments were still $254/month which I found odd. The month after in Oct. I was charged $949.44 which was absurd it was more than double what I had been… Read Full Review

“AVIVA leaves us out in the cold”

Written on: 14/07/2014

After last year's ice storm, AVIVA left us out in the cold to be sick and freezing. We lived with portable electric heaters until a month later they said we could go ahead and deal with our broken furnace ourselves because they couldn't get their contractors to respond. We did that, AVIVA didn't reply to my call about the costs as the adjustor was sick for two weeks and didn't have anyone else to answer. Imagine such a large company and no one to take calls from customers when an adjustor is… Read Full Review

“Leopard doesn't change it's spots”

Written on: 24/06/2014 by terryjacckson (1 review written)

Purchased house and contents insurance through Santander. Not realising it was an aviva policy. Had I known this I would not have committed myself. Bad experiences lead to long memories and my family having experienced shoddy treatment from Norwich Union as it was then known. Beware of insuring with aviva they are happy to take your money, but when it comes to paying out on a genuine claim they will look for any loophole possible to wriggle out of it, Go somewhere else and be careful in my… Read Full Review

Kerrydjones's Response to terryjacckson's Review

hello there..i am sorry but not shocked with your review, my partner had a house fire which left him without a change of clothes even, as the house was gutted..and it took them close on 14 months to come to a decision, which was....surprise surprise...a no chance..they went back and forth to court, incurring extra bills, but in the end, they won with a minor clause in the contract..my partner had building and contents insurance, he never missed a payment in the years he was with them...we were and still are suffering from their decision..

Many thanks for comment
No suprises, no response from Aviva Management. Basicly this feedback page is as useless as Aviv.
The sad thing is that as it turned out . I would not have made a claim as the amount involved was a lot less than I thought.
Am moving soon will find another company.

“Avoid Aviva insurance at all costs - 4 years of hell ”

Written on: 11/06/2014 by Rykerl433 (1 review written)

we had a major house fire in 2010 and I sure can talk from experience. Aviva who we have been insured with for many years to cover both contents and buildings have been as awkward as could be. For 7 months they had us move from place to place 9 times. 4 years on their builders who they chose has left the place in a state with tiles falling off the roof as they reused the same old fire damaged tiles, great big holes in the walls left by the builders, leaking pipes and leaking toilet, substandard… Read Full Review

“Overnight removal”

Written on: 06/06/2014

After furniture (liquid spill) damage by the northern removals company we sought assistance under the Aviva home policy. Then we found the exclusion clause in small print on page 23 stating no cover if ones furnishings etc. are stored overnight in a furniture depository. This happens if the move, like ours, is from Yorkshire to Cornwall for example. Lorry driver hours are exceeded so the overnight (secure premises) stop is mandatory. Another reason not to use this particular company apart from… Read Full Review

“Avoid Aviva at all costs - Horrific nightmare for 4 years”

Written on: 04/06/2014 by Serenity474 (1 review written)

Avoid Aviva the insurance company at any price! After our house fire 4 years ago and according to the contract all renovations should have taken a maximum of 12 weeks to be completed - well its now 4 years on and the company has not completed the works on the house, my mum with two young disabled children and two of us older children have been forced to move 7 times in 9 months - the extreme stress and distress of her having to drive 3 times a day 9 miles each way to a school, having no… Read Full Review

“Frying pan fire.”

Written on: 29/05/2014 by Blobby2 (1 review written)

I recently made a claim for the frying pan fire. After telephoning they sent someone from Asprea the next day, Friday. They couldn't have been more helpful. They sent someone to clean the smoke damage on the Monday. The man couldn't come on the Tuesday, he had to finish another job, so they sent someone else, before the first man could return. They actually came at the time we agreed and were good workers. The decorators came a few days later, also good workers. All the workers were friendly… Read Full Review

Written on: 30/04/2014 by tdMacLeod479 (1 review written)

Not happy at all!!! Based on this one experience and their inability to have some kind of common sense to be understanding would be great. No billing information about payments. No phone calls when I put a stop payment based on the their billing name that was listed not being anything that I know. Went to broker to resolve but broker was closed on the weekend and had to be paid by 12:01am Monday Morning. got to the the broker shortly after it opened Monday and they cancelled the… Read Full Review

Written on: 10/03/2014 by Crouch94 (1 review written)

My elederly mother was burgled the first time ever. Having insurance through Aviva we would hope all would be resolved quickly and efficiently. How wrong were we.... 5 months now since the incident and took 2 months to complete the lengthy paperwork to which we did as required. We recieved one call to advise we were not covered for everything despite making them aware of these items in the house. So far after numerous emails and calls we have no movement. “Terrible - Took almost a month to get anywhere!”

Written on: 01/03/2014 by enya123101 (1 review written)

Hi Do not and I repeat do not get aviva insurance. Sure the adverts are nice and funny but nothing is funny about having no TV or Laptop for a month. After both were water damaged in a accident I rang up the bumbling idiots at aviva for help, naturally assuming that they'd help. I mean I don't pay £200 a year for nothing do I? So they ask me questions and say that I'll get a replacement in a week, providing one of their clipboard idiots can come and collect both objects tomorrow. I agreed… Read Full Review

“One of the worst experiences of my life”

Written on: 10/12/2013

It would take far too long to go into the details of the nightmare that was my home insurance claim with AVIVA. Some of the highlights; a small claim took 9 months; they sent unqualified, unlicensed contractors to do the work. The contractors all but destroyed my home, including a number of areas not even affected by the claim. I had to pay for and/or provide the supplies, including paint and tools for the contractors as they did not have tools (not even rags), and instead of purchasing the… Read Full Review

“Corporate monsters”

Written on: 06/11/2013

I had my contents insurance with Aviva for over 5 years. Within that period my insurance policy monthy payments rose from £10 to £16 per month, even though I had made no claims. This increase was more than my annual salary over the same period. I decided to take a policy out with another much cheaper insurance company & cancelled my direct debit with Aviva. Aviva have now sent in the debt collectors stating that I owe them over £50. I am not happy, and I would not recommend this… Read Full Review

“Home + Car insurance with Aviva, good services !”

Written on: 05/11/2013 by Zooropauk (1 review written)

Hi, I have been insured by Aviva for both home + car insurance for several years now (6-7 years +). Both Car and Home insurances have always given me entire satisfaction. Initial quotes are good compared to other providers (always amongst the cheapest for my car/home + area). I recently (March 2013) put a claim with Aviva Home insurance for a shower leakage. I ended up re-doing the en-suite bathroom (we had plans to do this anyway). Asprea came, assessed the damaged. Th claim was processed… Read Full Review

Zooropauk's reply to Mrjdsmith's Comment

Written on: 01/03/2014

Mrjdsmith's, I actually take offence of your comments. I have absolutely no allegiance to Aviva whatsoever. I am simply insured by these guys, and have been for some years, after changing insurer quite a few times in the past. I don't usually post comments, but decided to do so, because the people likely to post comments are usually the ones having bad experiences. I actually happened to have had a very good one. I have been with Aviva for now over 6 years, without issues: they have been by far the best insurer for me, with the best prices I could find around for my circumstances. So before accusing others of lying, think twice before providing such stupid comments: I was only sharing my own experience. You may have had issues with them, but that certainly was not my experience, and I wanted to share this with others, to provide a balanced view. Nothing more , nothing less. People can then judge for themselves. Comments on this site have helped me make decisions in the past (good and bad), I was simply sharing here my own experience. Full stop.

“Terrible service from Aviva”

Written on: 11/10/2013 by Flood37 (1 review written)

We had a burst hot water pipe in May. It took Asprea, who were appointed to do the work by Aviva, over three months to even get the laminate floor up so it could be dried. They left tiles with asbestos in them right next to cold air blowers, even though the tiles were cracked and broken. Now they are saying that the broken tiles were not posing any risk! We had to move out due to the filth and having no cooking facilities etc... We were booked into hotels for three or four nights, and would… Read Full Review

“Faulty Replacement”

Written on: 19/09/2013 by cbernaz (1 review written)

After waiting a week for my replacement handset, I have been supplied with a faulty one. Agreed that I could take it to carphone warehouse to replace. Only problem is Aviva had not agreed this with carphone warehouse. So I am now stuck with a faulty handset, Aviva have offered to collect and then send me a new one but the turn around for this will be another week. I have made a claim through no fault of my own (phone was stolen) and I feel like I am been punished by Aviva for making a… Read Full Review

“Asprea - Incompetent”

Written on: 19/09/2013

I had a leaking toilet which damaged the floor, ceiling and plaster of the room below. Asprea, the building contractor for Aviva sent around numerous totally incompetent people round, each one not quite doing the job right. They assign you a 'claims manager' who is basically really good at sounding sympathetic and fobbing you off. You can only leave a messages with the claims manager, to which you get no response… Read Full Review

St33Ly's Comment

Written on: 06/12/2013

Had the same experience with Asprea through HSBC ( First Direct ). I understand that they need to vet the bogus and fraudulent - but all they seemed to do after admitting liability was to delay to the point where you become exasperated. Then the Asprea firm tried getting the independent quotes for repair down by comparing with the prices for comparable work in the north of england. They are utterly useless - but on purpose to fob off bona-fide claims in the hope people will give up and cover it themselves

“Excellent Service”

Written on: 29/08/2013 by Joyciebabe (1 review written)

A couple of months ago I suffered a leaky pipe that not only ruined my dining room carpet but warranted a builder hacking into the wall and concrete floor to locate it and tap it off. I submitted an invoice for trace and access and received a call from Aviva two days after posting to advise me that payment would be in my bank account within three working days. The money appeared as promised. Three weeks later I submitted my final invoice for restoration works and again received a phone call… Read Full Review
