When I was learning to drive I was insured with Kwik Fit on my car to take lessons in which was reasonably cheap at £500 for the year, which I paid in monthly installments. When I passed my test I called them to let them know straight away, and they told me that the premium would be increased (to around double). I did expect to pay more after I'd passed my test but was shocked to discover that my monthly payments had actually more than TRIPLED. They make it very difficult to cancel and every time...

I was a customer for kwick fit insurance for 2 year - haven't had much to deal with them other that to renew April 2011. When I did this there were great and match the cheapest quote i got elsewhere! I then had to give card details and direct debit details again - fine... fair enough. This year my renwal was due on the 9/4 (easter monday) and i was away the week before. Came back to my renewal quote (twice as much as i found with a new company). Called today as i had recived a letter saying my bank...

there is no 14 day cooling of period. Insurance companies by law have to charge you cancellation fee's to cancel a policy, even if it has ran 1.5 days.

Just taken insurance with them but i already regret that i did, been calling them for last two weeks to sort problems out no one knows what should be my total price they have twice took money out of bank, every time i ring its is a different price and when i check the bank different amount is taken.I am fed up with them ,they forgot to mention the excess on the phone to me and documents came with complete different excess and now they have taken out a excess protection on my behalf and they told me on phone that i dont pay they will pay which is £37 ,now i am checking my bank every day to see if they honour their word i have no written letter to confirm this.I would have cancelled the policy but it they have a charge of £25 pounds even with in 14 days and £75 after 14day ,this very bad.

PLEASE be very carefully when dealing with KWIKFIT insurance in the UK. There no claims policy is a mess. I organized a policy with them and explained I was travelling from overseas to the uk, I had a uk driving licence, pay uk tax, own a house in the uk, and they say I am not a resident. I have a uk passport. I spend so many months abroad for business. Having been with NFU Mutual for donkeys years my partner reckoned we could get cheaper insurance elsewhere. Well, I should have known (I normally never listen to him, so I must have been having a mad momennt!). Kwik-Fit. I can think of other more appropriate names... Suffice to say we have experienced all the things everyone is talking about on here. Charges added on after initial figures agreed, outrageously high cancellation fees quoted (we have gone over the 14 days grace period for cancelling),...
