    Good Points: None

General comments: Absolutely appalling service. I have been with Egg for about 10 years with a salary which is currently £50k I always paid the full balance each month and have an excellent credit rating. However Egg have just cancelled my card.

My interest rate went up from 16.9% to 21.9% with an outstanding balance of 9k on my Egg Credit Card. Without any explanation whatsoever. They waited until the balance reached this level before putting up the rate even though I had never missed a payment and had paid off the balance in full on several occasions. For a period I was unable to pay off the balance in full as planned and made minmum payments only. This interest rate made it very difficult to make any difference in the outstanding b ...

Could someone please answer this? When i had a bank account with clydesdale bank a few years back after an argument with them i said for them to close the account. Now i was told by the bank that as long as i had due debt they could not close the account until the debt was paid IN FULL as for them to close the account before the debt was cleared they would be cancelling the due debt!!!!!!!!! in other words if YOU cant close an account with a card or bank or the debt is cleared then why is the ...

Egg cancelled my card because I was not making them enough money. It seems there have been a lot of people with good credit ratings having the same experience. 7% of their customers have been told they are a 'credit risk' when they are quite clearly not. If you are one of the 7% I'd take it as a compliment that you know how to manage your finances, Egg is only interested in those who don't.

Egg Card are fine until something goes wrong. Occasionally on screen balance is wrong but rights itself the next day. Does not instil confidence ! Terrible when there is fraud on your account. I asked them to close the account 02.01.08 ........I am still waiting and it is now 14th Feb.

Very poor experience with Egg. Poor customer service, consistently poor at responding to messages, in fact they automatically archive (read delete) many messages before they have responded.

I too received the obligatory letter from Egg Credit Card and again have always maintained my account for many years. Also had a savings account which I am now closing along with the credit card. I feel that I am being terminated because I am paying off my balance as opposed to racking up debt.

If you have one of these cards, keep your own records so that you know where your balance is, because even when all your transactions are shown, the balance they give is often wrong. If you act on this balance, thinking you have credit left and go over your limit, you will at first get "customer services" representatives calling three times a day, for up to five days after you have paid well over what was needed to get back within your limit. When you tell Egg that this is not acceptable and a ...

1p interest being applied to an online transaction which was then rounded up to 50p. I paid the 1p interest immediately but the next month a "minimum finance charge of 50p" appeared. All this for several years loyal custom! No benefits despite several years custom. Poor customer service. Would not refund the 50p. Just referred to terms and conditions. Stealth fees! Bad egg.....

It does not matter that you are a good customer with an excellent credit record. They are only interested in customers they can make easy money out of by charging low interest rates then hiking them. There are other products out there that are as good if not much better and fairer.

When Citibank took over, my interest rate was hiked to 21.9% and within 6 months I received a letter stating that my account was being closed. I have a balance but have always paid a minimum of 40% of the minimum payment and by direct debit hence never missed a payment. Not recemmended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Has anybody else had my experience?.Having run a satisfactory Egg Card for many years and having a first class credit record, Egg has just informed me they are terminating my account because my profile is not what they want. As I pay off the balance each month and thus pay no interest I assume that means I give then no interest and because I don't rack up debts that makes me a bad customer.Funny thing is I have quite a lot of money in Egg Savings too but because of their approach am taking it a ...

Rec'd a letter informing of account closure within 35 days! Been with these guys for over 8 yrs No reasons given other than a general risk analysis Whats the risk I asked? After many vague and generalised stock responses from customer services decided to check my own credit rating. No issues at all, never been late with payments, always paid off balance ( issues for who?) all checks clean ! only changes to purchasing methods and patterns are a slight decrease of expenditure due to spreading ...

I received a letter from Egg 1/2/08 informing me that since they were taken over by the Citi Group, Citi had reviewed all of Egg's portfolio with the following criteria: History of Egg account management and your credit reference and I had now breached term 20.2. I was given 35 days notice (5 more than the terms and conditions states). I was also informed that my credit reference would not be affected by this as long as I cleared my balance (£500 ish) in accordance with their terms and c ...

I moved a balance from another credit card across to Egg to make the most of their introductory rate. I've paid on time by direct debit every month, never missed a payment and never gone over my credit limit. The interest rate, naturally, went up after the initial period - fair enough, but then, like another of your reviewers the rate went up yet again with no warning from them - just the change in the statement. I've now received a letter from them saying that they've cancelled my card because ...

Very poor communication from EGG. If you go over your limit they charge you '16. They phone and tell you how much to pay to keep you within your limit, however on three occasions I have paid the amount asked by telephone operator only to find this was not enough and I have been charged the following month. On two occasions this was because they had not calculated the interest that would be added. I accept this was an error on my part not to double check but I assumed the company would advise ho ...

Inability to comply with my wishes. Requested Egg to stop paying one of my bills as I had a dispute with them, and can you imagine my annoyance when after a few more months had gone by, my card was still being debited. On a further follow up phone call, I was told that what I had demanded could not be done ( !!) and that I should let the disputes team take over the situation. This also proved to be unsatisfactory. When a purchase /transaction is made by phone/ internet, what is there to stop the ...

Payments can be a pain when you first start as it's easier to pay D/D from your account to them but this company is good as they are not to worried on the weekly or monthly payments and always keep you updated with any problems, concerns or updates.

As a loyal Egg credit card customer for 5 years, I was rewarded by an interest hike from 17.9% to 22.9%. I was not informed, and I only spotted the change on my monthly statement by chance. When I approached them, they told me that they were reviewing individual accounts and that the increase could not be reversed, as it was due to 'current market position'. They were very unhelpful and blunt on the phone. Fortunately, I was working on a zero balance each month, and I had been for 4 months, so I ...
