“Never received the card”

Written on: 24/01/2013

Applied for this card 3 weeks ago. Called today to check where is my credit card and pin as I have received nothing through the post. They told me they sent it to a wrong address despite it being correct on the credit card agreement and now I have to go to a branch and change my address even though I do not have any reference number nor do I have a current account with Halifax etc. I plan to call to customer service again and confirm if it is true that if I do not have a current account with... “reduced credit limit no notice”

Written on: 17/01/2013

My partner & I have a joint account. Without notice today my partner recieved a text to advise that our credit limit has been reduced from £15k to less than £2k ( we usually spend in excess of £4 k per month and pay it off without fail )) I am disgusted that a bank can do this with out any prior notice or warning! When we called to check on this we were as usual passed from pillar to post, then to be advised we had gone over our new limit that we are unware of by some £27 and will incur... (read more)

If you want to use a credit card anytime soon, for the love of god do not apply to Halifax!! I applied 3 weeks ago tomorrow n as yet all I have is a pin number that arrived a week ago along with a letter saying I would have my car in the next few days! I ordered the card so that I could use it this weekend so I called Halifax today to complain & find out where it is, however as they aren't quite over their 3 week time limit they didnt want to know! “A very annoying credit card”

Written on: 24/08/2012 by marebito (2 reviews written)

You can not make a payment over the phone or online unless it is with a Halifax bank account. This is the most irritating feature I have encountered in any credit card. None of the customer services reps were able to explain a reason for this. I can only assume they want to be as restrictive as possible in the hope that annoying people is likely to get them to open an additional account with the object of their frustration. A baffling theory. It also makes it difficult to close your account... (read more)

“Still waiting to access online banking”

Written on: 28/05/2012

I have had the card for 3 weeks and am still waiting for my user name to arrive so I can access online banking. I have had to phone them three times to try and sort this out and the average wait is 10 minutes before you get through to someone. Although the advisers are helpful when you do get through, the wait for an answer when you call, and the completely ridiculous practice of having a user name sent by post mean that nearly a month after I received the card I still can't operate it... “Halifax One Credit Card - V. Poor”

Written on: 03/01/2012 by apaterson (3 reviews written)

I've had this card for a number of years and, like other reviewers, became increasingly disatisfied as interest rates rose without reasoning ( remember that the Bank of England base rate is 05% and they are charging an interest rate in the mid 20's) and accessibility of payment system was reduced. Was temporarily on a reduced payment scheme due to illness which they kept forgetting about and insisted that arrears were due each month to which I had to respond to remind them of the plan in... I have recently read other reviewers comments - most of which I agree with and would just like to add one more - watch your pay-by date - I was on interest free for 9 months deal and after 5 months of consistent date - they brought the date forward by 5 days. No reason, no warning (I diary all my payments) and the following month it was back to normal. I missed the date (paying in on the day rather than before) - was charged late payment fee and interest and interest ever since - I really... (read more)

Written on: 10/02/2011

I've had this card for some years now and use to use it quite often with a good credit limit. It was handy to pay online which you could do using any major debit card ... that was until Halifax updated their website and took the option away. You can pay online, but it must come out of your own Halifax current account. If you do not have funds in the current account, then you either need to send a cheque in the post which could get lost, phone them with debit card details (Indian switchboard)... (read more)

I was offered A Halifax Platinum Card through Chrysler UK, who sold me a car. Interest rate in 2006 was 14.90% APR. In 2008 Halifax took over the card and interest rate has increased to 22.95%APR. I can only afford to pay the minimum each month or slightly above the minimum. halifax one and them are the same but Bank of Scotland have better rate, Apr is 17.9 % best they can offer 13 months purchase and 13 months on balance transfer with handling fee 2.99% typical flat rate! & they are much better then halfix one, i rang 10 times or even more & customer services always speaks in scottish accent so i think their customer call centre based in uk at least they can able to speak and understand fluent english!

Halifax One credit card is great if you can look after your finance properly.
1. Pay off the balance of the card in full every months.
2. Do not make your payment late.

You can have some cash back by using the card where your Amex card is rejected.

So far, I have never had any problem with their customer service.
The only issue with this credit card is that they hasn't offered me a credit limit that I asked for. (read more)

HALIFAX ONE CREDIT CARD - APALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NO IDEA HOW TO MAINTAIN LOYAL CUSTOMERS. Have had the Halifax One card for 5+ years and have managed the account faultlessly. Watch out for the devious late payment policy attached to this card.

If a payment is late then you are charged an administrative fee. Fair enough.

However from that point onwards you are charged interest on any balance regardless of whether it is paid on time or not. Forever. This is an absurd policy as Halifax have already been compensated for the late payment.

The online statements are also confusing to say the least. (read more)
