Consistently contactd by Halifax when my balance was low offering promotion after promotion.when I did start using the card got a letter saying they were changing the interest to 23% and it would cost me an extra 34p per £100 each month plus interest already accrued.I presume they thought I was stuck I have another cc that I had paid the balance off on so I was able to transfer the amount and deprive Halifax of any interest ha! but watch out as they lure you in and then when they think you ...

Moved from MBNA to HaliFax 18 months ago, am now in the process of moving back. Declined PPI insurance when switching but it was applied after 2 months. Rang them and they agreed to remove it but continured to debit my account, now they want my removal request in writing. Asked for a 3rd card for my daughter last April 2008, still waiting. They keep sending me from one department to another, not having live web access to the account is a problem as all statements are 6 weeks old. MBNA website is ...

Halifax were offering 0% on all balance transfers on their credit cards. After transferring just over £2K I then received a handling charge of £65.

I think that they are being really sneaky with this and as a result I will never use them again.

Appalling customer service, left on hold and passed from department to department when trying to contact Halifax. 5 weeks of waiting to be told my card application has been declined when I had previously had a credit card with them for 2 years with no problems. In this time nobody contacted me to tell me what was happening and getting any information from Halifax to find out what was happening was a long process over the phone. " I would not recommend them to anyone after banking with them for ...

I have a similar story with Halifax one card, last month I made a 4 figure purchase on my card with in my credit limit. I received my bill, sent and electronic transfer the same day to repay the amount in full. The money was transferred and received by Halifax within 2 working days. For the past week I have been contacted every day by a half witted representative asking me to make a payment although I do not owe them a penny.

I was unable to increase my Halifax One credit card limit.
Payments allocated to lowest Interest Balance, (purchases not cash advances)
Treat Payments to a Litlewoods Football pools as cash advance, (hidden in the small print of the terms and conditions.) Totally dissatisfied with customer service.

Similar story, I got an interest free card, monthly payment was £4 short which I paid straight away, the interest free element was revolved and reverted to the normal rate but was never mentioned during my call to them. Did realise until 3 months later!

In November 07 I paid off over £700 of a balance of around £800. In December (what with it being a busy month for me) I missed a payment and the fun began. I was called several times a day from a London number. The caller stated that they were calling from the Halifax and asked me to confirm my DOB. As I don't give out personal details over the phone I refused. I then called the number back and got a recorded message with no information saying that it was the Halifax. From that ...

My experience was this: I never received a statement(lost in post?)and therefore I made a late payment, my £6000 12 months interest free credit was then instantly revoked, despite me ringing them up to explain, and being told that I would not be charged interest.

I found this to be unfair and the company was, for me, very unhelpful.

The Halifax credit card is very very poor, you can't change your address for love nor money. I've requested a change of address by letter, internet, phone and they still send statement to wrong address. Useless!

Reduced our credit limit without informing us which resulted in a credit card cheque which we paid into our bank account being returned one week after the funds had been used, resulting in a massive overdraft at the bank, charges and bank card being downgraded whilst the overdraft was being paid off. Very disappointed.

Have had a Halifax credit card for years but have never been offered any type of loyalty scheme or any benifits for staying with them. Missed one payment in the entire time with them because I was abroad and they did not set up the minimum payment I asked for, they fined me and dropped my credit limit even though I payed off the full balance the next month!!

They also will only give me a very small credit limit even though I earn an greatly above average wage.

    Don't go with Halifax! ...

The Platinum credit card worked well while paying it off each month. Unfortunately, the offer of interest free credit on purchases for 9 months turned out to be incorrect! Any Halifax credit card payments subsequently made actually paid off the 0% bit, leaving the other purchases attracting interest at 20%!!

What incentives does the Halifax credit card offer to users, so they don't switch cards and take advantage of the 0% transfers for up to 13 months?

At first the card was OK at 15%, but then after a year, the rate was raised to 20% for no reason.

I cancelled my credit card protection to offset the extra cost, and 6 months later, the interest rate has been raised to 24.93%.

Halifax customer service staff are not helpful, as this is now causing me problems.

Halifax draw people in with a 0% period on their credit card, and then charge loyal customers MASSIVELY over the odds. They count on the laziness of customers not to bother switching and keep hiking up the interest. I am closing my account.

The customer service people were exceptionally unhelpful when we lost a Halifax credit card. We have made official complaints, and still heard nothing despite empty promises. The card has been refused for no reason. Errors have been made by Halifax and not rectified well.
