My experience of making a claim with tescos car insurance is as follows,

Frustrating, disgraceful customer service, lack of communication between departments, lack of communication to their customer, rude unhelpful staff.

I am dismayed, exasperated and thoroughly ****** off!

5 weeks on I still do not have my car back, it will be at least another 2 before it is ready. How Tesco find out the current market value of your car is beyond me. Apparently they use Glasses guide. They will write off your car if the damage caused is more than 60% of the value of your car. My car is worth no more than £3000, repairs will be at least £2500 according to garage. Can they do maths? I have no faith in my car, I do not want it back. Tesco what a disaster.
I will never insure with them again.

When I got my Tesco Car Insurance renewal quote through I couldn't find a better one after shopping around, so I decided to go with it. However when I got the final schedule/confirmation through they'd added legal protection cover and temporary car cover for an extra £50 that I hadn't asked for! Luckily I spotted it and phoned for them to cancel it and they did so with no problem, however beware people - always look at the final quote!! Also, when I had to make a claim on a third party ins ...

Well I am very confused with some peoples comments on here. I have been with Tescos since I past my test 5years ago. I hit a deer and it nearly rote my car off. I phoned Tesco and within 1 hour my car was picked up and within 24 hours I had a courtesy car. My car was fixed and I collected it within 14 days. The staff are always really helpful when I ring and when I renew I ring up and they give me vouchers and extra discount.
However my premeum does seem to go up considerably each year ;-( ...

I am a young female driver, I phoned Tesco and had to wait no longer then 2minutes to speak to someone, when another driver drove into my parked car on a late Thursday afternoon.
Tesco were brilliant, the call took no longer then 10minutes, early the next morning a garage called me to arrange for a quote visit and then a follow up visit to have the repairs. Tesco even arranged for me to have a hire car even though it was not part of my insurance, at no extra cost.
Really could not fault Tesco, ...

I hit TP - fair enough, but when I told Tesco Car Insurance they said they had cancelled my policy a month before... Said they had written to me asking for proof of NCD and then to confirm they would cancel the policy three times (I had not received any).
I was thinking OMG, I had killed someone I would be over - was realy stressful.
I went to Financial Ombudsman & started to complan. The tesco did a 180 and said that for three weeks all their mail they thought they had sent had not gone. The ...

Applied for tesco insurance in july.had problems with website initially and then had to make 3 calls to tesco to get my car insurance as their system was refusing my debit card and they were telling me that my bank was at fault as my bank had declined their request for deposit. found out from my bank it was fault in tesco's computer system.I should have heard that alarm bell ringing then.
Eventually, i got insurance over the phone. 10 weeks later i have not received my pressure washer and have ...

    Hi
I insured with Tecos, within three months sent off my renewal notice from my previous insurer, Tescos said not was not enough proof and then whacked another £600 onto the premium. Having written to them twice with no response they cancelled my policy with one days notice and asked for all documentation returned or they would take legal action. I had asked previously for all my documentation to be returned as it seemed no use to Tescos, one month later after phoning again I'm told it ...

Will not pay out for the damage done to my car when it was stolen and recovered due to something in the policy terms and conditions. There is nothing in the T&C's to say they shouldnt. Will not be renewing my insurance with Tesco. Had courtesy car on my insurance had to ask if I could have a car, was not automatically offered to me. Dont think they have heard of CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Took out Tesco car insurance as was good quote and was offering free pressure washer. But 8 weeks later no pressure washer. Finally spoke to them and they told me I was not entitled as I had used a comparison website to find them and I had used this quote. This was not the case. I had looked at a comparison website, but had then gone directly through their website and put in a few quotes and finally used one of those quotes. I finally gave up arguing with them, as they were not very helpful.

I have never spoke to such unhelpful, rude, ignorant and downright incompetant call center staff. My experience with them was so bad I would never shop at their stores again, let alone buy insurance from Tesco. Would NEVER recommend. I wonder if my comment will be shown??

In terms of Insurance Service I havent had much bother. But I have had non-stop issues trying to claim my £40 gift voucher off them. I've called Tesco 4 times since I got my policy and all times they say it has been posted. It never was and as a result I am being forced to take action. If you are getting reeled in by a voucher offer beware! You may never see it.

Tesco are the worst insurance company I have ever come across - 9 weeks after my car was stolen I have still not received my cheque...its been call after call of telling them the same thing and complete incompetence and lack of communication between their numerous departments have led to nothing but frustration and exasperation. I will NEVER insure with them again, they are unprofessional, amateur and have given no consideration to the inconvenience of leaving me without means of getting another ...
