Bad Points: When you get anything cheap or cheapish there is always a catch with it and with Tesco Car insurance its certainly the case. If you anyone ever wants to get a Fully Comprehensive Car insurance Cover from Tesco Finance be very aware that you need to pay extra for courtesy car in any incident where you lose use of your car. So the Fully Comprehensive Car Insurance Cover in TESCO'S book should be actually in practice be called SEMI COMPREHENSIVE CAR INSURANCE COVER and also make sure you go through them small prints specially if you are a young driver to find out how much you could be forking out on excess just because of your age.. Good Luck. And have a safe Drive.
General comments: The so called Tesco Car Insurance wasnt that bad at accident recovery as its carried out by GreenFlag recovery Luckily its not managed by the Tesco itself or people would end up on the hard shoulder till next Christmas.
I am disappointed with the level of service I have had off TESCO CAR INSURANCE , 1. I thought when anyone says FULLY comprensive it should cover basics of car insurance like legal cover, personal injury, courtesy car and stuff like that. BUT if its the case of TESCO then i would certainly make sure there is nothing you havent read, before, they tell you OH WE ARE SORRY BUT THAT PART OF YOUR INSURANCE IS AN EXTRA FEATURE AND YOU ARE NOT COVERED FOR IT .. Be Very Careful ... Cheers..

My car was hit while parked, I reported the claim to the claims dept, I had to wait 3 months to get my car repaired as the other party wouldnt talk to his insurance (nothing to do with Tesco) after the 3rd month they finally admitted fault. Tesco arranged for my car to be collected, it was taken away for a week, I was given a lovely Vauxhall Astra to use instead, they delivered my car back - it was great. No issues at all.
Just on the back of what some one else said tesco are not owned by direct ...

Bought my policy with Tesco on the Monday morning by phone as I couldn ' t buy online as they wouldn ' t accept my solo card. I rung them up and was told that this meant that I wasn ' t eligible for an online discount, I explained that I would buy online if my card was accepted. Was told basically tough luck, and still being £50 cheaper than direct line (the next cheapest quote) I decided to go with them anyway.
Customer service agent was really helpful and it was all done very quickly an ...

I had an accident whereby I was parked & had just left my vehicle (car park). A vehicle just missed me & hit my car on the front offside wing. Because the accident occurred on Boxing Day I could not get any response until the New Year. It then took a further three weeks before the vehicle was taken to the repair centre. Tesco Insurance stipulated the repair centre I had to use. They did not replace the wing, as I would have expected (particularly as it was a no fault claim) but merely filled it ...

You get what you pay for - you may pay more for Tesco Car Insurance but I personally have been really pleased with their service. It might be a different story if an accident wasnt my fault!

I took out Tesco car insurance because being a young inexperienced driver, they offered me a cheaper quote. First problem - April 06, I was buying petrol and when I went back to my car, a truck had hit the back of it completely smashing it. I got all the details from the other driver, phoned Tesco up and it was a disaster. The operator was useless, asking me everything twice. I was 50 miles away from home, he then told me I would have to drive my car home without a back window. I enquired ab ...

After being with Tesco for a couple of years i was involved in an accident where a lady did not give way at a roundabout and smacked straight into the side of me, spinning my car onto the middle of the roundabout (and in doing so colliding with the drivers side of her car). After having to arrange recovery and hire car myself my car was taken to a local garage for inspection by the Tesco engineer. The lady took full responsibility for the accident and was very good at keeping me informed of prog ...

From the first moment somebody else wrote my car off they were terrible - the first phone call reporting the accident was laughable and I felt like suddenly I was to blame. They never wrote to me, never called, when I called them I was forced to listen to a diatribe about how if I was making a false claim I would be prosecuted etc. They valued my car incorrectly and their 'independent valuer' knew less about cars than my dog.
They did not reply to letters, didn't settle claims in any reasonable ...

I will not bore you with the ins and outs of how badly Tesco Car insurance dealt with my claim, about how I have had to do my own investigations, chase up every single thing several times and how I have been fobbed off with misinformation and empty promises. All you need to know, is this rating!

In Feb this year I crashed my car after hitting a patch of moisture on the road, skidding across the road over a verge and into a wall, the car ending up on its roof. As expected the car was written off as economically unviable to repair which was fair enough. I phoned the claims department on day one and they were very helpful and friendly and made sure i was alright which was a nice touch. Received a letter a week later saying it was written off, followed by a cheque for a reasonable amount o ...

Do not buy insurance from Tesco's. It maybe cheaper than most but that comes with very little assistance when having them fighting your corner.

The majority of Tesco Customer Service staff are rude and obnoxious unless you are taking out a policy or advising you are not renewing your policy. You feel frustrated when staff are rude to you, and cut you off, even when you are ringing in response to their letter. Information you ask for when going through a claim lacks substance, so you ring back hoping the next adviser has more knowledge....like I said, hoping. On three occasions (1 week period) I was on hold waiting to be connected for ov ...

Call centres are polite and promise lots of nice things, however the service is appalling.
My wife had a fraudulent case made against her. We had witnesses that nothing happened, informed Tesco's of all of this, and still they just went ahead and paid the cheeky persons damage claim.

I was with Tesco car insurance for the past three years as when I took it out (at the ago of 21) it was the cheapest I could get. The premium rose steadily every year until this renewal I got a few other quotes and Tesco is DOUBLE the price of most other insurers! I've never had to make a claim so I have not had any experience of their claims department, but every time I have dealt with customer services they seem quite friendly and helpful. No real problems with them, not stunning service eithe ...

I was on a moorland road in clear conditions following a land-rover (with a huge dog bounding around in the back). We came to roadworks and the lights were on RED- he went through them...the guys working singled him to go back to avoid on coming traffic!
I reversed back to give him plenty of room to get back to a safe position and he smacked right into the front of me.....He had NO IDEA i was even there!!! Admitted it was his fault at the time...
After statements and phone calls and 4 maps draw ...

I feel members of the Tesco Car Insurance customer service department require a course in handling customer complaints on the telephone and their mannerism needs a lot to be desired.

Very poor customer service once I had a no fault accident I am three months on and to my knowledge they still have not contacted the third party! They may be cheap now but their staff and service is dismal penny pinch at your peril!

Having used Tesco Car Insurance for both my wife and I for a number of years, have decided to move away after an incredibly poor level of customer service. My wife's car was hit on the side by an old lady driver who lost control of her car in a multi-story after feeling unwell. The lady took full responsibility, so Tesco's approach was you get in touch with her insurance company, you arrange for your car to be repaired, you arrange to pay and then get the money back from her or her insurer. I am ...
