“Hugely inflated premiums”

Written on: 02/02/2016 by Putnam336 (1 review written)

I had my Honda civic insured with Tesco for one year and paid £380 for my policy. When it came to renewal time they quoted me almost double that. I then went on to compare the market where they quoted me £340. I then changed vehicle to a VW up and was told that my premium would be £658. I told them I could get it through Lloyds for £246. They then offered me discount but as a loyal customer should we not have been given this price in the first place. AVOID Tesco insurance they over inflate… Read Full Review

“Avoid Avoid Avoid !!”

Written on: 27/01/2016 by Paul48 (1 review written)

To cut a long story short I was involved in a minor low speed collision where my LH door mirror made contact with another vehicle who's driver was trying to block me from changing lanes on a motorway traffic island, we both stopped and got out of our vehicles but due to the threatening behaviour of the other driver and the amounting traffic i had to move my car from the island to call the police, the other driver did not follow but just left the scene, I reported the incident to police and made… Read Full Review

“Rip off renewal quote”

Written on: 23/01/2016 by nickst17 (4 reviews written)

Having been a customer for several years, nothing could have prepared me for the astronomical renewal quote from this bunch. I have a clean licence, never had any convictions, same car, recently moved house to a cheaper area and yet, their quote went up to almost £500. I went shopping around and found exactly the same cover for £237, including a much lower apr if I chose to pay monthly. When I contacted Tesco, they then had the audacity to ofer me £50 off their quote.......needless to say I… Read Full Review

“Car insurance”

Written on: 20/01/2016 by Dominik312 (1 review written)

Very shocked at their treatment of me, I have been insured with them for nearly 15 years, and a good customer, suddenly out of the blue they have turned me down and ended my policy, the reason because I changed occupation. Crazy people. so I have had to change to another insurance company, I phoned Admiral, they were great not problems and half the price. Tesco need to get their act together, prejudice to housewives… Read Full Review

“TESCO Car Insurance:Rip Off with Senseless and false...”

Written on: 11/01/2016 by DisneyT (1 review written)

I Called Tesco Car Insurance customer services to notify them of change of address as I moved 3 minutes drive away from my previous address to a newly build area/street. - I was told I had to pay £20 admin fee – (Rip off) - My premium went up even though my car is parked in a safer place. When I asked why, they said the area I have moved to is a high risk area with a history of high rate of accident – How?? I explained to them I am the first person to move to that street which is a… Read Full Review

“No support ”

Written on: 11/01/2016 by LeandroO'Rourke (1 review written)

Had a crash which wasn't my fault, witnesses gave statements to both the police and tesco saying it wasn't my fault, still they try to blame me as I am a young driver. We asked tesco to spend some time and money to reconstruct the crash using computers and they are extremely certain this kind of technology doesn't exist, which is not true at all, millions of other websites are available for myself if need be but no, they are sure they don't exist, I wrote the car off in August 2015, had to wait… Read Full Review

I'm currently having the same issues with tesco as a young driver, unfortunetly there's no witnesses to the accident and as such my own insurer is trying to get me to accept 100% libility. Im currently contacting citizens advice and i'll be getting in touch with trading standards aswell. They havent given me any support and take weeks to respond to any email i send. I hope you get more help soon!
I wouls uggest also contacting citizens advice and they are impartial and usually very good with your rights as a consumer. good luck!

“first time drivers worse nightmare”

Written on: 13/12/2015 by Adalyn423 (1 review written)

Do not take their first time drivers insurance. They are poor communicators and if you have an accident which isn't your fault they will not support you. 11 months after taking insurance. Another driver wrote off the car, instead Of helping they claimed that when the black box was fitted the engineer noticed a sticker in the window which is a modification, therefore my claim was void. My question I if the engineer noticed a sticker(car bought with this) and reported it to them why did they… Read Full Review

“Never Even Heard of any insurance company Worse than them”

Written on: 09/12/2015 by 264Wooten (1 review written)

Hmm where do I start. When I had my accident, the lady I spoke to concluded I was at fault even though a motorcyclist slammed into me. Then they contacted the motorcyclist themselves asking if he wanted to claim and avoided contacting his own insurer to save on cost and they are still trying to say I was at fault even though everyone that has seen this has thought otherwise. Their excuse is they will assume the cyclist was within the speed limit even though the evidence suggests otherwise, and… Read Full Review

“Learner Driver Nightmare”

Written on: 20/11/2015 by JG97 (1 review written)

I insured my car as a learner driver, it has some very minor modifications but after talking to someone at customer service (who admittedly was very helpful) I was told they would be added to the quote with no extra charge as they were too small to worry about. I purchased this insurance on the premise that after passing my test I would transfer it to full insurance, with the only fees being the additional cost of full insurance compared to that of a provisional license. Three months later I… Read Full Review

“non fault accident - laughable response from Tesco Ins”

Written on: 16/11/2015 by 448Vargas (1 review written)

my partner was an injured party in a NON fault hit by a third party vehicle. Being stationary at traffic lights she was hit by a car who drove straight into the back of a line of stationary cars at traffic lights. Her car was catapulted into the back of a stationary commercial vehicle and suffered both front and back damage. The third party admitted liability and swapped details. My partners head hit the steering wheel and was in shock. Tesco insurance were contacted and the experience is less… Read Full Review

“ABSOLUTELY DREADFUL. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!”

Written on: 11/11/2015

I was involved in an accident in March 2015 and was at fault. I admitted fault and the other driver made a claim against me. I didn't claim for the damage on my car. It is now November and because Tesco have been disputing the amount of the claim made by the other driver, I now have a County Court Judgement against my name!During the 8 months this has been going on. I have not received one letter or phone call from Tesco to inform me what is going on. I have only received letters from the other… Read Full Review

“Awful”

Written on: 27/10/2015 by JakobMacLeod (1 review written)

I would rather pay more than insure through tesco again. Had an incident where someone went into the back of me at lights. I was hassled into making a personal injury claim that I did not want to take, staff were extremely rude and accusatory, my car came back from their recommended repairers with more paintwork damage, so had to go back in. I was given a courtesy car with no air conditioning. Had another incident in the same year where a car had collided into the back of my parked car, driver… Read Full Review

“Awful customer service when you make a claim”

Written on: 23/10/2015

Two and a half weeks to have a windscreen repaired against an SLA of 48 hours. Many promises for return phone calls were made and broken. Really sympathetic people on the phone, but no-one actually did anything to improve this. Could I have two and a half weeks worth of policy cost back please, as the car is not driveable. … Read Full Review

“AVOID TESCO CAR INSURANCE LIKE THE PLAGUE”

Written on: 04/10/2015 by viEdwards356 (1 review written)

Biggest mistake I've ever made dealing with this awful dysfunctionaldishonest company. The promised Clubcard discount never materialised. Contacting the company brought only rudeness and a couldn't care less attitude that I've never experienced before. Their response ranged from "The discount really isn't worth bothering about" to "Oh, you should have got around 30% off." and "If you don't like it you can cancel....but there would be a huge fee" Reported them to Trading Standards, Insurance… Read Full Review

“unfair payout”

Written on: 28/09/2015 by Aubriez70 (1 review written)

Approached a box junction and the filter light turns green, as I proceeded to to complete my manoeuvre a black taxi driver smashed right into the back side of my car causing it to spin unto on coming traffic. Car was written off..no damage to black cab. When I called tesco insurance to inform them I literally got a letter the next day stating I was at fault for the accident as automatically whoever is turning right is at fault. I informed that there was a filter light which allows me to turn… Read Full Review

Received renewal notice on existing Tesco car insurance and was amazed to find that the monthly payment had gone up by a staggering 40% .There had been no claims and no changes to the policy and was advised I needed to nothing for the policy to continue . I phoned Tesco who where most unhelpful and pretty much told me take it or leave it. I cancelled the policy immediately.Looking for an alternative insurer on go compare brought up 35 companies who where considerably cheaper. It would seem Tesco… Read Full Review

“Young driver nightmare ”

Written on: 29/08/2015 by Micaelab129 (1 review written)

As a young driver you'd of thought that the insurance company would back you up in the event of an accident, but not with tesco, the other driver accepted liability for the accident and me and a whitness heard this, however the insurance company will not listen due to how easy it is for them to blame me entirely, this means that I'm just another statistic that they can use to increase their premiums on other young male drivers, their is solid evidence that proves I wasn't at fault but they… Read Full Review

“Lack of information leading to charges to cancel.”

Written on: 25/08/2015 by Slushpumpkin (1 review written)

Unfortunately my car did not pass it's MOT so I phoned to cancel my policy. I was informed that it would cost me £40 to cancel and that this information was given to me back in Nov 2013 and I was to remember and recall this information. I also got the impression that if I did not have a car there and then to transfer the policy too I would have to cancel it. Basically they were going to get this money out of me one way or another. When I searched all their information leaflets it merely… Read Full Review
