“Awful!!! ”

Been with tesco as there quote came out the cheapest for me three years ago never faulted on a payment and been a loyal customer. Brought a new car and went on comparison website for quotes got quotes a hell of alot cheaper tesco quoted me £956 for the year and i managed to ger it for £436 but they said if i canceled midway i would loose my whole years no claim they then charge me an admin fee and upfront cost of £82 and i would still have to pay £75 p/m for the next 4 months to get my… Read Full Review

On the comparison site, Tesco car insurance came out as cheapest product at just over £300, could not complete online and when called, it was more than double the advertised price at just over £800, despite a seven year no claims bonus. “Awful experience, avoid at all costs ”

Have parted ways with Tesco insurance recently, I went with them because they were the cheapest and it was much like a Ryanair experience. Poor customer service, unhelpful staff, always on hold for ages, refusing to acknowledge their mistakes. “So easy to deal with.”

I have had Tesco insurance for the first time this past year and they have been brilliant. I went with them as they were the cheapest on the price comparison site. I had crash which caused a dent in the side door, nothing serious and no one was hurt. The lady on the phone was very helpful to start with and said someone from and 'approved' garage would pick it up and fix it. When they picked it up they seemed very rough and thick. And each time it costs £25.00 but now they demand proof of address a massive in crease in the PRI e of my policy. As you failed to send in proof of new address we are cancelling your policy y. I was just looking at comparison sites to re-new my car insurance. They have shown me a very competitive price for fully comprehensive insurance, but after reading your review, I think I will give it a miss. Yours is the most recent review that I have come across and it has made my mind up for me.

Pleased to help, they were far cheaper than anyone else when I took out my insurance, but now seem to be looking for totally unjustifiable reasons to bump that price up, now it's too late as I've cancelled my other insurance.

You are making the right decision, I have been with Tesco for at least the best part of 5 years. I was involved in an incident last year with a cyclist who was overtaking me on the inside on a non-cyclist lane area, who blatantly ignored my indicator, he was riding what I can describe to be a bike on its last legs, he made a complete fuss out of it at the time calling the police in situ who actually told them that he was in the wrong after talking to a witness. At the time there was no damage to bike and he hadn't been injured but within an hour of having left the scene of the incident he started calling me and the witness. To cut a long story short after a few months the cyclist contacted Tesco and now there is a claim against me for this incident despite of now having two separate police reference numbers clearly stating that I did nothing wrong plus witness statement which Tesco did not even bother contacting me and then they contact me to tell me that they will settle the claim unless I have a problem with it, hell yes I have a problem with it, it will be a year on 26th October since the incident and I am currently having to pay higher premiums because of their incompetence, having said that I am still arguing my case even though it feels like I am talking to a brick wall, Ombudsman is my next port of call. I would not even take up their insurance even if it was given to me for free.

Do not go with tesco for insurance. Earlier this year I was unfortunately involved in an accident were a car hit the rear of my car, this is the first accident I have had. I contacted tesco immediately informing them of the incident & provided them with the third parties details. Let me know how you get on as I will be going down this same route, we shouldn't be allowing companies like this to treat us in this manner. I am beginning to question myself if I actually want to continue doing my grocery shopping in their stores, the more I am reading up on it the more I get wound up over it, it seems they are taking us all for a bunch of mugs.

However on my last use of their services on receiving vehicle damage, I realised they had outsourced the various tasks to FIVE different companies. My wife called Tesco car insurance for some advice about her car, several weeks later the renewal of our car insurance was due and we received the new premium. The premium went from just above £200 to £410.
