“Very quick payout after accident”

I had an accident in March due to very icy roads. No other parties involved. I rang Tesco, they recovered the vehicle within 2 hours, were in contact within a few days by both telephone and letter and had paid out within a week. The service was fantastic, very quick and easy to report the incident, and staff were friendly and helpful. They made a claim against Tesco for £4000 Tesco did not inform us or fight the claim therefore they got £4000 to repair a scratch. I had a car accident last Saturday, Ive chased Tesco so much this week as my car is being held pending police enquiries that my phonebill is nearing £70 and growing! Tried getting quote for car insurance. Spent time finding irellavent info like what date did I pass my driving test on in 1987, Tesco club card number etc. By which time the page messaged time out, then after reloading all my info, Tesco then said sorry we are unable to provide a quote for you, contact one of our specialist insurers. i have recently taken a policy from tesco because i bought a new car but i didn't insure the car immediately after i bought it because i was off on a holiday and the car was not being used and after getting back i had no money so had to wait for few weeks for my pay day and then i insured it and they asked for my No claim bonus which i sent of 3 years but because i hadn't insured my car for a month and a bit they are completely disclosing my No claim discount of 3 years and plus had to pay them more money!! How unfair is this, such a rip off, no customer service nothing for the customer!!

“Absolutely Terrible”

Worst Insurance company, I have ever dealt with. Try calling and you are required to listen to what seems like an endless monologue of time-wasting dribble, guranteed to have you in a bad mood by the time you get to talk to an operator. Internal processes are so rigid that its impossible to get anything done without major pain.At next renewal these guys are gone for all family policies. Stay clear. (read more)

after 3 years with them, they refused to cover my new vehicle that I bought and wanted to swap my insurance from old car to new one. Only 3 month left to complete the year. they cancelled and said refunding me 3 month insurance. they advised me that I have to choose another insurer as they don't cover my post code area etc............ We have been insured with Tesco numerous times over the years (dependant on whomever came up cheapest at each renewal) and they have always had very good, very helpful customer service. We have always been fully comp a few years ago one of our cars, was hit by a lorry when my husband was driving and was a writeoff, they were as helpful as can be, the insurance valuer, valued the car at market value, but as we could provide photos and docs showing condition etc and we argued it was better... “Lousy customer service for windscreen repairs”

No claims for 9 yrs. A small chip in my windscreen this morning. Teso subcontract their work to NATIONAL WINDSCREENS who are a SHAMBLES. It will take FIVE days for a small chip to be repaired. In the meantime - the whole windscreen could shatter making ME liable for very large excess. SHAME ON TESCO - didnt want to solve it. Takes NO responsibility for the service from its subcontractors. This is definitely true Tesco car insurance is a total mess and they just know how to lie just to rip you off. I haven't made any claims yet though they wrote me to say that something was wrong with my no claim certificate then called after 1 week and lied about my policy as well as manipulating policy form which I did online and has a copy of it in my car.
They then said I have to more from 65.19 pounds to 93 pounds which I disagreed they then say I have to cancel my policy which I did and now they say I have to pay full premium nearly 800 pounds. what a rip off.

You hope you never have to find out whether your insurance is good or not, but nine days ago I wrote off my car. The customer service from Tesco I received was excellent, seven days later I was offered a fair settlement for my car and two days later the cheque arrived.Very efficient and I would highly recommend them.Having an accident is unpleasant enough but Tesco made the insurance side of the accident as easy as possible. “Poor Customer Service: Incentives”

I renewed my policy in May,mand although it had gone up considerably, there was the incentive of a hotel voucher which eased the pain somewhat. I paid for the policy, but the voucher never arrived. We were hit by a tesco customer whilst stationary in our car. My 2 children my husband and I (I am pregnant) all sustained injuries and I required an emergency scan. Our car went in for repair and tesco deliberated what they were prepared to pay for over a four week period. In 2010 my husband had a crash on the motorway a car tailended him pushing him sideways infront of a lorry, which pushed him half a mile down the motorway before spinning him into the oncoming traffic (another lorry!). After finding a quote with another insurance group online at more than half the price i informed Tesco i would not be renewing but would need proof of my no claims bonus. Tesco's quote came up as one of the cheapest plus at the time they were giving away a free jet wash which i never received. The policy was easy to set up and they notified me when my renewal was due, they have me 7 days prior to the policy end date to let them know if i wanted to renew with them or another company. My son has been driving his father's car, and was told by Tesco he needed to take out the policy in his name, not his father's. He has been with Tesco Car Insurance for four years. I have recently purchased Tesco standard. The difference between the standard and value cover was only around £5 but I didn't really think I'd need the windscreen cover. So was about to purchase the value - Big mistake. When you put in the voluntary cover you want, it has an explanation underneath saying this would be added to the compulsory excess and an example ie £300 voluntary would be added to £100 compulsory. Purchased their insurance online, so you read the small print and think you're ok. But the exclusions covered online do not cover half of their exclusions in the policy booklet. Had a minor bump 6 weeks into a new policy as I bought a used car. Damaged the bumper, bonnet and left head light. Absolutely awful when making a claim. Refused to pay out when my car was broken into and then set on fire. Written off but they have botched the whole claim going against police evidence, thier own investigators evidence and my own evidence. Now in the hands on the Financial Ombudsman in an official complaint. Will happily take your money but will not pay for a legitimate loss. Terrible insurance company.

Following an accident, Tesco have written off my car but are determined to offer me an unfair settlement. They are telling me to find a car using auto trader which is equivalent to my car and the total loss dept even quoted me a car to go and buy even though it was for sale as a salvage car as" it could be bought with the money they are offering". It isn't technically Tesco - it is apparently second hand Ageas Insurance. So if a driver runs into the side of your car please pray they are not insured by Ageas. Tesco will organise a "botch up" repair on your car to apparently reduce pay-out costs. Organise is probably a loose term though. It is your right by law to choose the garage that will repair your car up to 90% of the value of the car, theoretically, somewhere there.

You don't even have to deal with them if they behave strangely. Just call a repair center such as panelcare (nothing to do with them but they are very good) and they will arrange everything from courtesy car, repairs, lawyers if need it etc.

i had i policy with tesco.it ended on the 1st nov 2011 and there requote was to much,i cancenelled it because i found a cheaper quote and they sent me my no claims out,7 month later i i received my bank statement and they had been taking money out every month,i contacted them and after a day of calls back and fore they said if i send prof of my new policy and when it started they would give me a full refund,i contacted them again today to see how my refund would be payed to be told they was...
