Overall, driving the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is awesome for the track, or for a long mountain drive. If you're looking to drive this car in streets with traffic, you will hate it. If you're looking to drive this car to develop your driving skills, you won't be looking for another car anytime soon. - Pumped and breathtaking acceleration in any gear - Handles like no other car (the computer works harder than the driver) - Brakes are full of response, and if you need to stop, that's what you...

The Mitsubishi Evolution models have indeed evolved since the first slightly under-rated evo was first launched in october '92. This model had bad handling, not an awful lot of torque whatsoever and didn't look all that appealing, however, gotta walk before you can run hey? Now, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen Limited Edition is an improvement in every aspect from wider tires, to the carbon fibre body shell. And as for the engine well, enough said: 245bhp from a 2.2 24v !...

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 6 Tommi Makinen Limited Edition is all you can ask from a sports car, it looks mean, goes like mad and every one loves it! I had a standard Evo 6 gsr, which was sent off to power engineering, if you know your stuff, you'll know they are in the top league of tuners for Evo's. It was running 350bhp and 320ft of torque, only 20ft less than the fq400, but the muppet before me uprated everything apart from the clutch!! I have owned my 1999 Icelle blue Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR for 2 and a half years, it has a stage 1 raliart conversion which takes it up to 330-340 bhp from the standard 276bhp. Quite simply there is no other car in the world that can go round a bend faster than an Evo this is because of the Active Yaw Control which transmits drive power where its needed so all you have to do is point it where you want it to go and floor it. the computer will sort the rest out. Although if you take a corner...

Wow I honestly couldn't describe the Evo better myself! I own a lovely Evo 6 which is my second 6 in 4 months as I crashed the first one: (exactly like you described it mate: I went off the throttle in a corner (mind you I was doing 35mph!) and the back stepped out like crazy! It behaved like a fish and I think only a proper rally driver could've saved it. Other than that it is an awesome car if you know what you're doing) Oh, and it does turn heads, especially with a loud BOV fitted;)

Ive owned my silver Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI for a few months now. Before that I had an Evo V. The reason I stuck to getting another Evo was simply because, if you're fortunate to have one, the car offers so many things; if it's styling you want, the Evo is a wide and muscular, good looking car, with plenty of trimmings, but in a slightly reserved way that is not in your face.
If it's speed look no further. Although my car has been tweaked to 360BHP, you wont find many who can compete...

i just got a chance to drive a new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI this weekend. (only 800 miles on it). The speed is very impressive, but that is all the car has going for it. The steering is to tight to be able to drive the car comfortably and when you really get down to it, i didn't think it handled that well (although, i am comparing it to my 2000lb miata). I expected to really like it, but i found myself just wanting to get the car back to the garage. IT WAS NOT FUN TO DRIVE!!!...

Doesn't handle very well? Lol! It is without doubt one of the best handling cars on the road. If you felt your Miata handled better then the Evo you drove must have been completely shafted.

Poor handling. are you mad. I've got an evo 5 and mine handles fantastic and the speed is more than just very impressive.
Written on: 11/03/2005
Clearly you have not driven an Evo VI. There is nothing tight about the steering at all the car goes exactly where you point it unless you come off of the throttle on a bend and then it will slide like any other 4WD. The handling is unlike any other car I have ever driven and in the 2 and a half years I have owned mine I have never seen another car go round a corner faster.

I HATE IT.... it is a rally car and is not meant for the streets, even though it is fast, i do not like it. The design of the interior of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI is horrible, it is one of the worst i have seen. The exterior is not the best either, the high spoiler looks very tacky. The euro lights on the back don't help it either, they should have come stock with normal rear lights. I hate the shape of the body too, it is just plain old ugly. It reminds me of the all the subarus that...

To be truthful, half the people here who have written their reviews on the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI don't really know what an Evo is! They know it's fast and stylish, and is a rally car, but that's about it. It's either they haven't got the car but is still writing reviews. Or they just don't know what they can do with an Evo, that's kinda disappointing because they don't know there own car inside out. Evolution is a car that I would say, is affordable. hi there blinkdo.

not to worry too much n dont lose sleep over this teeny problem.

all u gotta do is to tighten the adjustment bolt at the back of your hks sqv. its that simple!!!
see, your sqv is designed to blow off excess air (air not fully taken in by the engine) and when the air is blown off too much or too rapidly your computer registers too little air thus cutting itself off completely. better to upgrade your computer system to hks f con v pro. it can better monitor your enginem (like mine), even with the sqv blow off valve.

This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI is the greatest car I have ever driven. It compares with the likes of the HSV Club Sport which costs about $50,000 more!...

The Evo VI cannot be compared to an HSV at all. They are 2 totally different fields. The HSV compares to XR8's, but not Evo's and STi's. But I have to agree that te Evo is probably one of the best cars on the market due to it's performance. It is one of the cars I would buy if I had the money.
Written on: 07/08/2003
A performance car can be compared to any other. Lancer can be compared to supras corvettes or whatever. The compare the lancer to exotic cars like 911's all the time. On the streets, anything goes. On the tracks, the only thing holding u back are the rules. Man made rules, so those rules can be changed. U can compare the lancer to a SUV or a truck if u wanted to...but why waste ur time with that right. The performance of the lancer is great. 0-60, 60-0, quater mile, handling...they're all up there with the best...and all from a little 4 banger.

You have got no chance of buying a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo v(The one from 2 fast 2 furious) because 5000 were made and they were all bought within a week so Mitsubishi made 1500 more and that was it. If you want one really badly then you're best chance is in Japan because thats where most of them is but I doubt you will ever find or see one if you don't have one so pick another one.

Evos are wicked cars, they are really common over here in England.I guess that doesnt make you lot feel that much better.

My friend had one, took me for a spin and I fell in love with the thing! A bloke over here has a 730BHP evo VII from Jun Motorsport, does 0-60 2.8 secs and 215MPH! But his ralli-art rear wishbone which is twice as strong as a standard evo VII wishbone snapped in half and he wrote it off! hehe
Written on: 20/06/2003
And as far as an MR2 Turbo beating an evo goes, the only MR2 Turbo that would give an evo a run for its money is a jap import because they are the proper 240Bhp monsters. The american market like the english got a tame 220Bhp version with a few less trimmings. :o(
Even then a evo would smoke it on acceleration, and would whoop it on a whiney or wet road (thanks to good old traction control!). The MR2 would be spinning everywhere! But i love MR2's too. And a supra 3.0 twin turbo! ;o)
Written on: 23/06/2003
i own an mr2 turbo with 21psi of boost. you say a mr2 turbo wouldnt touch an evo? well i've been so far up there backsides I have been pushing them along. i know for a fact it isnt true as ive maxed it out against a maxed out evo and put it this way he would be reading my rear number plate! evo a very nice car, it would obviously be much better than an mr2 on a rally track!
Written on: 24/06/2003
Im talking standard. You've put the boost up on your turbo! The evo extreme which is basically stripped down like the rally car is faster standard once you de-retrict them.

They have very strict rules in japan about power outputs on cars so when they come over here they are restricted. Just like the jap imported MR2's, which are also wicked cars. Which I prefer toyota's anyway. They make bomb proof engines.

I hope you know that the US version of the Lancer is just a lancer...not the EVOLUTION. One is a family sedan, the other a REAL (not OZ rally edition) Rally WRC champion. One is a Japanese Supercar...the other can compete with stock accords and camrys. THE jap-spec car is a twin turbo charged 280 HP 280 lbs/ft L4 with AWD. The US version is just a 130 HP non-turboed L4 that is only a FF not AWD. VERY VERY big difference!
Written on: 08/05/2002

Fast once within the turbo band (over 3,000 rpm).
Understeers a lot in slow corners, and doesn't give the driver the confidence to drive flat out.
Often frustrating to drive given its "on" "off" turbo. Made for smooth tarmaced roads, doesn't feel controlled over typical UK country roads...
Written on: 07/10/2001
hmm i think it might be something to do with the driver, the car owns the roads and everything between them.
Written on: 09/10/2001
A rally car that can't cope with UK country roads? This thing will out move anything short of a full-blown WRC car. Fact. I agree with the first comment - the review says more about the driver than the car.
