Enduring Love by Ian McEwan
I think Enduring Love is a fantastic representation of the importance of rationality, which is directly embodied in the rational and scientific narrator, Joe.
Good Points: The style of writing is brilliantly inspiring and capturing, and the story line is also fascinating. I enjoyed the intense build-up to the ending, and the bizarre relationship between Joe and Jed. The themes are clear and succinct, bringing to the fore issues such as obsession, passion and illness. We grow to side more and more with Joe, as intended by McEwan, and feel sorrow and embarrassment for Jed.
Bad Points: At times, the text does become monotonous and repetitive, mainly in the scientific and informational parts. The format and structure is formal, and the novel even includes an appendix.
Overall, Enduring Love is not only a fantastic novel; it is a compassionate and moving journey, which you are sure to be 'obsessed' with. Endure this book, with an open mind (as to ecological validity), and you are sure to be liberated by the many cliff-hangers, dramatic scenes and award winning moments.

The story I found hooked me with the opening. A marvelously crafted piece of english that draws you in almost becoming annoying with Joes constant digressions however this all helps to build the tension. Joes slip into obsession is something that should not be missed. However the loosely woven in sub plot based around mrs logan seems to have not had as much effort put in; with it not being solved until after the logical conclusion of the book a sort of aside never really an integral part- Read Guest's review (127 words)

Enduring Love *
Being an English As student , and having to study Enduring Love in detail I thought it would be a good idea to right a review about it because I am so familiar with the book. I also decided to write this review as I have my english exams in a couple of days and one of the exams is based on writing something like a review , and the other paper is about Enduring Love , so I figured that by writing a review on this book would be good practise for both papers. I just hope my review d ...- Read xdonzx's review (1276 words)

I'd say Ian McEwan, Enduring Love was probably worth a read. I enjoyed the majority of it, give or take a few chapters. Although, you should bear in mind the fact that the style in which it is written seems to change dramatically in a few chapters near the end.- Read Guest's review (163 words)
