Good Points: Lively range of comic characters.
At the beginning, you enjoy Nicholas being a good old-fashioned chivalrous hero.

    Bad Points: Too long.
Nicholas is perfect and can do or think no wrong.

General comments: Charles Dickens's Nicholas Nickleby is an altogether good read, but I somehow think it would have been a more enjoyable book if 300 pages in the middle would have been done away with. However it must be said that Charles Dickens did not intend for this to be a novel, but was a series released five chapters at a time. So I suppose it was advantageous to draw out the story to hold his readership's interest.
