Good Points: Good hand feel. Volume control on side accessible
while using the phone. Easily readable display.
Intuitive menus for all common functions. Great
    battery life.

Bad Points: Doesn't take standard headset. No way (for users
at least) to download ring tones.

General comments: This phone is readily available used, and is inexpensive.
It has a good hand feel; doesn't feel like a toy,
as some of the Nokia and Motorola phones do. The
battery life in digital mode is about a week, which
    is outstanding.

It has all the features you could want in a basic
phone. There are only a few drawbacks:

o My service provider whined and complained about
having to manually flash it. I had to stand over
their tech to get them to do it after waiting two
    weeks without action.

o The bottom connectors are seriously non-standard.
Only Ericsson add-ons fit, and at that, only
    add-ons for the 600 series, 700 series, T10
    series, and R280 series.

o The connectors don't always make good contact in
a charger. You have to watch the phone when
starting the charge to make sure it's powered.

o No way to download ring tones. There's a custom
ring tone setting for the service provider to use,
but how to get at it is unknown.

If you don't use the phone for 2 or more weeks then the the phone will be damaged in the first charge.

I have used my Ericsson A1228d c-fone for almost 2 years. I am a klutz and drop it regularly. It has yet to break. The batteries are cheap and it gets great reception, better than my sisters nokia and my dad's motorola star-tac

My Ericsson A1228D crashed two times when trying to add names in phonebook!! Cannot shut down the phone or answer any call at that moment. Have to remove the battery. First web site I found with someone else with this problem.
Is Ericsson using Windows products?? ;-)
    Try Linux

This is an excellent phone for anyone. If you want something more, in features, then choose another one. However 2-way text messaging capabilites are also good.

This mobile phone has a good battery life, if the thing wouldn't burn your ear and hand off while you used it. I also believe this phone is very limited in its capabilities. I say it's bad points far outweigh its good points.

The battery *does* get hot--I'm not sure yet if it's just when it switches to analogue mode.
There *is* a software bug in the Messages menu... I've had the phone crash when trying to delete messages, and crash hard, with the display illuminated and keyboard frozen. Have to remove the battery to "reboot" since even the power key won't work.

It's a good phone for simple people. It has less options and less beauty of other phones. I always wanted to buy a GSM service cuz their phones are wonderful and easy to switch. They have very good options with beautiful tones.

You just cant talk with this phone for more than 5 mins because the battery gets so hot. It requires a hands free. Why is this so ? Is it because all TDMA phones r like that ?

In the year 2000, a cellphone without the time of the day!
If you burn 50mA to light the display, might as well burn 5uA to show hours and minutes.

It is overall a good TDMA phone, not for everyone but it looks good at least.
