Good Points: Fast fast fast! Point it in a straight line and boot it and watch that clock fly round!!! Good response from throttle no matter what gear/revs your in, it pulls all the way through!! (very easy to break speed limit and you dont realise unless your looking at the dials!. Great looking car, even as standard (in my opinion). Gadgets, all in the right places too!. Gorgeous seats (leather/suede on GTi).
Bad Points: 20-26 miles per gallon (lead footed or not). Expensive parts/service. Handling cannot be trusted (feels like it will let go on bends you know you can take faster in other cars) I dont generally push mine and it just doesnt feel right (hence I dont want it anymore for this reason only!). Every raise in the road (manholes/tarmac/white lines) is noticable, you can feel the car try to pull across when your on even a slightly unlevel surface.. Slighty weak build quality inside, in terms of rattles from dash, and boot.
General comments: I really don ' t trust the handling on my GTi. It maybe that it ' s just my car that is like this, but it just does not feel right when cornering. (I am an experienced driver) I ' ve had it into 4 garages trying to find out if there is a problem in the suspension somewhere, but each garage has said it has no issues so it makes me believe it must just be the car.. Thirsty on fuel, even if you nurse it around changing up at 2700rpm and driving below 55. Nothing seems to make it give your more miles for your money. That ' s all there is to dislike.... The positives far outweigh the negatives I think. Fast - - > From standing, from rolling, from 2000rpm in 5th this car will still pick up really well. It ' s made for booting really. I couldn ' t get over how quick it accelerates, and also how it just keeps going and going when you floor it. No hesitating around 80 or 90 mph and slowly crawling round the clock... It just carries on. The leather seats are attractive, and I think the entire interior in this car is better than what you will find in other hot hatches. A/C and digital climate control make sure it ' s always pleasant inside the cockpit. The standard speakers aren ' t amazing, but they ' re ok if you compliment them with a 12" subwoofer. Spacious in the front, not too bad in the back either I suppose... If you want something to drive around and just feel good about owning, safe in the knowledge its fast as hell and has plenty of power in reserve, get one of these!

Had my Peugeot 206 GTi for 2 months. When I picked car up over 70 miles away had to give it some on motorway and found it to be very responsive without realising ,so you need to watch the clock. Found it extremely comfy, as it hugs you into the seat. Does around 30 mpg which is OK for a 138 bhp 2 litre. Last car was Vauxhall Corsa sxi 1.2i 16v 90bhp so it is fast and nice in comparison.

If you have some hours to spend in the Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi interiors to apply sound deadning materials in all joints and fixing points you'll solve the interior problem. If you can find uprated bushings for the chassis you'll have a near perfect car.
Of course if you're an enthusiast like me, it's just awesome like it is.

I've owned this Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi car since last September and I have since covered 25,000 miles driving all over England. It's a lot of fun to drive. It has power to offer and handling to match. The interior is very smart with the half leather and the lay out of the car is ideal. The car comes as standard with responsive wipers, auto headlights and a 6 disc boot changer with controller on the steering column, air con and climate control. What ever you could possibly need has been placed at yo ...

Ive had the car for only less than a year and never had a problem except the lambda sensor that lit in my dashboard because of the chip I added. Other than that no problems what so ever. I've added a manifold, cranks, super chips, super sprint straight pipe exhaust, a Subaru exhaust for the head and KnN generation 2 filter all Kevlar. All those gave me around 35hp added to the 140 I already had. The car runs like a beauty. I was able to beat the 206 RC 180hp, Porsche Boxster 2000model, S3 A ...

I have a 2002 Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi and I have to say when driven hard it is enjoyable to drive and grips the road well, but watch out for the front end to snatch when accellerating quickly from a stand still.
The only faults I have found with the car are that when driven hard brakes and tyres do not last long ! I am coming up to 80k miles and have had 4 new front tyres and 2 new back tyres, 2 sets of brake pads on the front and one set on the back. Another problem I have had is getting an exha ...

Performance of the Peugot 206 is good but not excellent. No real problems as yet except for an Anti-Pollution fault, which I'm told is nothing serious. Have put on high performance air-filter and performance exhaust system. Go's well.

Had a good long drive along my favourite backroad with the new 170hp Cooper S the other day. Next day, same conditions with a 2002 206 GTI. Contrary to all the hype-reviews on the Mini, this is what I noticed only while driving the Pug: I was laughing! Why? Because the car was so fantastically entertaining and involving when pushed along this badly surfaced, hilly and curvy strech of road. Steering, front end bite, traction, balance, all helped make it so much more enjoyable than the Mini. Could ...

I would not recommend anyone to purchase a Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi 3dr unless they own shares in a garage!, Nobody wants to fix them and when they do its a small fortune.
Peugeot are not interested in taking any responsibilty for thier bad designs on their supposed top range sports line of cars.
The total exhaust system has been a joke from start to finish.
I'm not very happy!
Have had 3 peugeot's and this one will be the last, would rather have a Renault 172 anyday.

Tires don't last long if you push the Peugeot 206 2.0 GTi 3dr (you should, otherwise don't buy a GTI) I changed the fronts at 10000km and then the 4 of them at 25000. Love to get into twisted roads. Is soooo easy to lift the inside rear wheel off the ground whitout even understeering a bit in hairpins that it becomes addictive!!!! to move the car around corners using accelerator (on and off it) is so much fun you can even do some oposite locks once you get the hang on it...then you can't stop go ...
