Good Points: The concept of the book is great, four short stories that each are quite long (for a short story). Although the first one (The Langoliers) is more of a science fiction it still has elements of horror, the rest are straight-out horror.
Bad Points: Sometimes the story will trail off a bit too much and can be quite random here and there, I guess thats King for you!
General comments: The first story (one past midnight) is called "The Langoliers" which is about a plane flying to Boston, only a few people go to sleep. When they wake up, the plane is deserted and the world seems to have lost all living forms (i.e., humans, animals) the only thing left to do is find out how to make everything normal again, but it's easier said than done.
The second story (two past midnight) is called "Secret Garden, Secret Window" which is about a man named Mort Rainey who is a best selling author and suffers from writers block. He lives in a cabin near lake Tashmore and is a depressed man due to his wife cheating on him with a Real Estate agent. One day a man from Mississippi knocks on Mort's door and claims to have stolen his story as it turns out they've both written the same story which is called "Sowing Season" only this man has called it " Secret Garden, Secret Window". Mort's world begins to crumble right in front of him or is it he who is crumbling it himself?
The third story (three past midnight) is called "The Library Policeman" which is about a man named Sam Peebles who is suddenly asked to perform a speech on a last minute basis. He goes to the library to find some books to help him with his speech, he is confronted by Ardelia Lortz who is the local librarian. But is she real? Sam better beware because if he doesn't return his books the The Library Policeman will come after him......
The fourth story (four past midnight) is called "The Sun Dog" which is about a boy named Kevin who recieves a a gift which anyone would want on their 15th birthday: a Polaroid camera. However the camera doesn't take pictures of what it sees but of a completely different picture which is the same over and over again. Kevin goes to get this simple problem fixed by Pop who owns repairs shop but this simple problem appears to be far more severe than imaginable...
