Surprise! after 18 years I hesitantly bought another RR, last efort wasa not a happy experience. The 2009 version exceeded all my expectations, as good as any Bentley in the comfort class, better fuel consumption, quiet, fast enough and with a great driving position. Fast intercontinental journeys have been undertaken without any problems so much so that I am now going to buy a LHD version.
Problem, two that I can think of, the weight of the spare wheel, speedo reading figures/indicator not good if you are age challenged like me.

Thr Range Rover 3.0 TD6 Vogue car is amazing and luxurious. I don't think it has any bad points. Nice ride to drive.

The Range Rover 3.0 TD6 Vogue is a very good car all around with an amazing feel of luxury when inside. It's well built, the TD6 has a good engine but many complain that it is too sluggish - this is true on take off but it is no snail. When upon the motorways you will find that it cruises very well and the handling is also very good.
The Range Rover and X5 are not in the same league - The Range Rover is much bigger which is why the Range Rover Sport was launched to compete with the X5.

Owned two previous Range Rovers, last one a 1996 DSE sold with 130K miles - very good reliablity and still looked and drove like new!! - Great residual as well - sold to first person to view after one advert.
Looked at the usual competion,
Mercedes - dreadful build quality and reliability
BMW - very good - the closest to the RR but not quite the same feeling of luxury and quality.
Porsche Cayenne - After 3 years ownership of a Boxster and hopeless Dealer support at great expense - the last one to consider. Also didn't want to be confused with Drug Dealers!! - looks a bit of a dog too.
Toyota Landcruiser - excellent vehicle now with good equipment levels, but not the feeling of a luxury car
and surprisingly!!!
Kia Sorrento - amazing value for money in XS trim very well equipped, just the wrong badge - Sad I know but I still keep thinking of the low price and the high spec.
After owning the RR for some time now am simply delighted. Difficult to think how they can improve it

Having had Range Rovers over the past 10 years or so, including 3 brand new models, I can honestly say that this is the best ever that I have had. I would go further and say it's the best build vehicle I have owned. That covers over 20 new & 3 second hand vehicles. The TD6 Vogue is the best value not only in the range but it's class of vehicle. How Land Rover have priced it at over £8,000 less against the petrol model I will never know. The performance is second to none, I would not want a petrol powered one ever after this if this is the way forward for diesels! This was my own personal money that bought the Range Rover and it is me that pays all the bills, I have yet to see one yet!
Note that this review is after having this vehicle for 10 months, so not based on any short term thoughts!

This is the true flagship for the Land Rover brand. BMW influences can clearly be seen, but this is no replacement for the X5.

Not a great improvement over its replaced BMW X5

The Range Rover was destined to be the flagship of BMW's 4X4 fleet, but Ford managed to obtain the Range Rover as part of the aquisition of Land Rover.
