I have not read this revised edition but I have read an old Penguin book of ghost stories by M R James that I found captivating. As a storyteller James invites the reader into a story with seemingly believable natural circumstances, such as a visit to an old friend or relative that ends in a terrifyingly 'supernatural' occurrence. I don't know if they are just stories or if they are based on personal experiences. I have not looked into the history of the stories to decide this but they are completely thrilling all the same. Thank you for your time Jacqueline Piper.
