I bought an '99 Kompressor because I don't like the oval headlights on the new model. The car is very comfy, handles really well, and has nice features. The gas mileage is phenomenal. What I don't like is that there are unpredictable temporary problems getting electrical features to work properly, if at all. Also, the hood lifts at least a half inch when there are heavy winds in just the right direction and an oncoming semi blows by. The hood doesn't fly open, but the lift is scary enough. (read more)

A little over rated/ over priced.
Takes a while to get used to the clutch being next to the brakes.
Overall, a nice drive and the shape is sporty yet classic.

I have been driving a Mercedes C200 Kompressor for around 2 years now. Totally dependable and nothing has broken (touch wood) so far. I think I probably get around 25 miles to the gallon - but it is local driving. Sometimes can get up to 30 on a long drive. The big heavy door are a pain, is you park on a sloping site they can swing shut and bash you - but it seems that most coupes have long doors like these. If it was not for my car's rumbles and rattles I would be very happy. A fun car to... (read more)

Mercedes Benz C Class Sports Coupe C 200 Kompressor:
Every car has some kind of special bond to a person, be it their first car, their current car, even their worst car. They will always tell you a tale about it when you let them know that you are a car salesman. I guess this is why there is so much passion about designing and orchestrating the ultimate driving experience. The will to better the last and constantly strive for increased performance, enhanced looks and comfort.
So, having...

To start off ...Thanks for a great review Angus.
Am considering getting a 08/09 C200K (the Avantgrade line as we call em in JOR) it's going to cost me about 48,000 JOD (~ 68,000USD) thats w a Pano-Roof , HID ,Auto-Tans & Real Leather only. As a user of the previous Generation do you advise as so.
I've been driving it for about 4 years & the depreciation of Benz here is pretty low most of my family drives them no troubles.
Currently I own a Peugeot 407SR 2.0 Petrol 08 a decent car , great looks but the engine is a bet irresponsive for my taste
Any ideas because I look for Audi's A4 , BMW3 Passat 2.0T & Lexus IS250 all cost at least 5 grand more with worse interior & running costs.
