I would have to say that taking all other prestige cars into consideration given the choice I would pick the JAGUAR XJ 8 every time. You can drive many cars from lexus to mercs and be perfectly happy with your choice but for me the JAGUAR always stands out and shouts class, lexus is a nice car and so is the merc and they both make good taxis as i have seen, but when is the last time any one saw a JAGUAR TAXI I rest my case they are just too classy for any old night out, when you get out of your ...

Ive owned in excess of 80 cars, and not one even comes close to the Jaguar XJ8. Superb all round car.

The Jaguar XJ8 4.0 is my pride and joy - it's now clocked up 62000 miles with no problems apart from the battery and tyres purchased for £45 each.
Servicing at £70 a time and there is a great supply of second hand parts. Fuel economy not the best but if that bothers you buy a Matiz. Feel the king of the road.

Make sure you buy the best you can afford and you'll have years of cheap executive motoring.

I had an LPG conversion done in 2004 which cost about £2200 but it's the best thing that I ever did. Runs faultlessly and is a pleasure to fill up at current prices. Easily repaid me on savings but I intended to keep the car. Annoys me that you can't get any tax breaks for this conversion even though it is "Green" and if you want to get exemption from the congestion charge you have to use one of the specialists on a list. If you love Jaguars (and I have a had a few) then this might well be ...

It's my first Jaguar but it won't be the last. Luxury motoring, performance, looks, prestige.
Difficult not to be impressed by the overall package that Jaguar put together in the XJ8.
Considered buying an XK, but at the moment it would be difficult to part with something that drives as good as this car.

My Jaguar XJ8 is 1998 4.0 litre Sovereign, 217000 miles.
What can I say that's new? No problems with central locking, or anything else. The engine was changed under warranty by Jaguar at 105000 miles, using minute amounts of oil. Gearbox reconditioned at 145000 miles (£1500). Driver's seat frame broke and had to be welded (I weighed over 20 stone at that time). Still on original exhaust - battery etc. Aircon still works and has never been regassed. After all these miles it is time to sell ...

1999 Jaguar XJ8 LWB - purchased 2004 (74k) - sold 2005 (89k). This car was purchased in auction, with a FJSH, for £9,000. (with the reg. 'SS9980' - value £3k +) and sold a year later for £8,000. without the personal registration. APPRAISAL: The first challenge was to remove the smell of smoke as the previous deceased owner was a smoker. This was eventually achieved after countless hours work and re-work. A lesson learnt - never buy off a smoker unless you wish to drive ar ...

The Jaguar XJ8 4.0 is definately a great car to own & drive. Servicing & tyre costs are the downside, but find a good independent and you're OK. The boot is hopeless if you've got massive amounts of luggage or kids. Much more reliable than you'd think - apart from electrics, which can cause some problems every few years (e.g. sticking radio aerial)

The Jaguar XJ8 4.0 is a fanatastic car to drive - worried myself sick as to whether I was spending £12k on the right car - after 5 months I'm sure I have. I have had an LPG system fitted (fantastic system - JAG PRINS fully sequential £2,500, but well worth it - getting equivalent of 45MPG) and I don't have to worry about using the car for fear of fuel costs. If you have thought of getting one of these cars, then get on and do it!

I've only had the Jaguar XJ8 4.0 for a month but I'm already in love. For the same price as a new Fiat Punto you get a car that feels like it cost £40,000 (actually it probably did when it was new). The amazing thing is ... it still feels like a new car. Smooth, quiet, and a real head-turner, I can't imagine a nicer car to drive. Fuel economy is out of the window (23-25 mpg average), but after driving it for a few weeks, you don't care. It's well worth it. I can't rate this highly enough, ...
