“I have never gone to Florida without the Brits Guide...”

★★★★★

written by on 14/06/2010

I have never gone to Florida without the Brits Guide to Orlando from Susan and Simon Veness. I have been three times now and have always had the latest copy of the book with me.In my opinion, the book covers everything you would want to know. The busy day guide at the back of the book was spot on, as were the lightest days and we were able to plan ahead on what parks to go to and when. Off The Beaten Track Chapter was invaluable and shows there is so much more in Florida than Theme Parks. The maps and guidance around the theme parks was also spot on and so was the brit tips. Great book, don't leave home without it.

“A seriously superb book and a must read for anyone...”

A seriously superb book and a must read for anyone travelling to Orlando. I also suggest checking out www.usatips4brits.co.uk which is a great free resource for brits travelling to Orlando.

Simon's book manages to be extremely informative whilst being amazingly easy to read; something many other guide's fail to manage. Great tips for the parks and comprehensive details on the rides etc.

This should be classed as the bible for British visitors to Orlando. DO check out the UsaTips4Brits website too though - it's free!

Thought that the tips for travellers were great, eg. restaurant guides, weather information, information on park 'busy' days.

“This book is an absolute MUST! To go to Florida...”

This book is an absolute MUST! To go to Florida without this book is to go to Florida without a hope! It is, as mentioned, the "MADDEST" place I have been to so far. (In a good way). Simon's book was stuck to me and thank goodness it existed. Not only does it provide "expert" help in choice/preference/where to go and stay etc, it provides help with things you would normally not consider, like "how much to tip" and "which days of the week are the queues at Busch shorter" etc etc. I must confess though.... I have passed my 2004 book around to friends who have been to Florida since but I have now got it back and suggested they buy their own!
Honestly Simon.... I 'am' getting the 2007 one this year!

“Any Brit travelling to Florida for the first time will...”

Any Brit travelling to Florida for the first time will inevitably find it daunting. We are seasoned travellers, but our first Florida experience was MAD, and it would have been almost impossible without this book! We call 'A Brit's Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World' our bible, and since our first visit to the sunshine state in 2002, we have had many more, and each time we have taken the Simon Veness book with us. There is a new one published every year with all the 'up to the minute' hints and tips, where to eat, which days are the lightest in the parks, what to beware of... everything to ensure you have as enjoyable a trip as possible. Simon and his wife live minutes from Disney, so have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to the ever changing theme parks. Not only do they cover the popular Disney World resorts and parks, but they cover Universal parks, Busch Gardens, Seaworld (our fave) and other not so well known attractions. Simon Veness's book is probably the best around for the British traveller, as it is directed to us sandal and sock wearing brigade!!
Don't try to visit Orlando without first reading this great guide cover to cover, and then remember to pack it in your suitcase.
