“2006 2.0 TDCi Zetec 130”

★☆☆☆☆

Best piece of advice is avoid this model like the plague. Just google Mondeo TDCI problems and scroll through the hundreds of posts. Case in point is my car. Had it since 19k miles now 77k and injectors and fuel pump kaput. Fsh and all Motorway miles. Repair would cost more than the car. Shame really as when they are running fine they are responsive and frugal. My advice stick to the germans and japanese. In the 1960's 77k miles and game over might be acceptable i think not.

£200 for a new starter with no gauantee unless i had a new dual mass clutch fitted. £800 for new cluch. If ford know about this problem. They should fix it for free. Just finished paying for car and its been towed back to garage. Ford stands for Forever Off RoaD. Do yourself a favour. Buy a Trabantz or a Lada.

Stay away from this heap of "^$&. its the worst car iv ever had the misfortune to own. iv spent more money on trying to keep it on the road than it cost to buy. 1st the turbo packed up. 2nd the hand brake locked up needing new lines, brakes and callipers, 3rd the stater motor and flywheel needed replacing. FORD YOU SHOULD HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME. i will never buy a ford again. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. DONT BUY THIS CAR

“The Fuel injection for the Ford TDCI engine as fitted...”

The Fuel injection for the Ford TDCI engine as fitted to the Zetec S 130 PS block IMHO is atrocious. The fuel pump bearings break up and require the pump to be replaced. This causes metal particles to get into the injectors and the whole rest of the fuel system through the fuel return line from the injectors. At £1000 to replace the pump and £392 per injector plus emoval and replacement of all contaminatedpipes and removal and flushing of the tank this is in my opinion , based puerly on bitter personal experience, the unacceptable face of Ford design. And then No3 piston parts company with its crown which smashes the head while the lower half of the piston, still attached to the conrod, then flails around smashing the block and the sump. Buyer beware

I received one as a hire car, how anyone can rate this piece of junk as nice to drive is beyond me. The loud uncouth rattling engine with an uneven spread of power(gutless before the turbo comes in at 1500 revs and no top end) across the rev range is poor even by diesel standards. Interior is cheap looking, overly hard ride for a family saloon car. Its also big and ugly, why would anyone spend their own money on one of these?

“I bought my mondeo tdci 130 zetec second hand just...”

written by MarionE on 15/09/2010

I bought my mondeo tdci 130 zetec second hand just over two years ago and I've had so many problems that I'm about to trade it in and will never buy another Ford.

Looking down the reviews I can see two other people have mentioned the fly wheel going - if you're thinking about buying one of these cars then search the mondeo forums for more info on this subject - it will make you think twice.

In the two years I've owned this car I've spent more on it than it cost to purchase in the first place - in the first year I had to replace three injectors and the starter motor and eventually had to replace the Dual Mass Flywheel and clutch. That was just over a year ago and I'm now starting to get the same symptons of the DMF starting to degrade again.

The car also pulls to the left and despite having the tracking and bearings sorted out last year it's already showing uneven wear on the tyres again.

I had three Ford cars before this one, a petrol mondeo and two escorts - the others were all brilliant but this mondeo has been such a money pit that it's put me off ever buying another Ford. It's a shame as it ticks so many boxes in other ways.

Bought a ford Mondeo tdci 130 55 plate after having an excellent 2.0 litre petrol 51 plate that had 102000 on the clock ,what a mistake ! The car i bought was very noisy compared to a petrol and blew clouds of black smoke under acceleration ,eventually after various attemps to locate the problem the turbo failed, this was replaced under warrenty by ford but the black smoke problem returned within a month ,the car was by then out of the 3 year warrenty ,from what i have learnt from ford it is going to be very expensive to fix - possibly injectors-i will never buy a ford diesel car again !

There is a 2009 plate Mondeo, with 97000 miles on the clock. It is worth £5200 or am I asking for trouble?
