My Daughter and I have almost all the Julia Donaldson books and this one is one of my favourites. Its not as easy to get hold of but its well worth the search. This book is all about problem solving. The little Monkey cant find his Mummy so a butterfly tries to help him find her. They find alot of animals and learn about them whilst trying to find Mummy Monkey. This is a great book for younger readers because every turn of the page has my Daughter yelling "NO thats not Mummy MOnkey that's a..............."

My 3 year old loves it almost as much as I do.

The text allows the reader to both read and sing. The phrasing of most of the words of the butterfly can be sung to "Hush little baby don't say a word, daddy's going to buy you a mocking bird...'
I used this book to building understandings of pre-school children re. difference and sameness, and to build a family tree wall in my Day Care Centre.
Fabulous story with narrative lending itself to spoken and sung language.

We enjoyed the whole story and thought it was funny when the butterfly kept getting the wrong animal! We also liked the part when the butterfly said that her babies didn't look like her. We really enjoyed reading the book. We thought it was funny and it was our favourite book!
