Good Points: Charlie and the Chocolate factory has to be the best Roald Dahl book ever! It is hilarious in parts with an imaginative storyline that is exciting and fun. With never a dull or boring page, I was gripped from beginning to end.

Bad Points: I couldn't think of a single bad point, except maybe that the book had to end!!

General comments: The book is about a poor boy, Charlie, who is caring, kind and thoughtful. He lives with his parents and two sets of grandparents in a run down house near to Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory.
When Willie Wonka sells chocolate bars with golden tickets to allow the winners to enter his factory, Charlie doesn't think he stands a chance, but when he wins a ticket the adventure begins.
Charlie and Grandpa Joe set off on a whirlwind tour of the amazing chocolate factory led by the eccentric Willy Wonka. They are accompanied by several other winners of golden tickets, each of whom possess nasty personal characteristics like Violet Beauregarde who chews gum non stop, or Augustus Gloop who is incredibly greedy. The story unfolds to reveal what happens to each of these characters as they travel through the factory. The tiny OOmpaloompahs, who work in the factory add to the humour when they sing songs with clever and funny lyrics.
My favourite part of the story has to be when Violet Beauregarde gets what she deserves!
My favourite character is definitely Willie Wonka because he is soooooo eccentric and sarcastic.
I would recommend this book to children of 7 or over. It will appeal to boys and girls alike and is well worth reading.

    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Do you like chocolate ? I'm sure there's not many who don't, but could you imagine only being able to buy one tiny bar of chocolate a year and then making it last as long as you could ? Of course not, in fact I'm not sure if I could make one giant bar last longer than 5 minutes, gannet that I am !!!! Well the hero of Roald Dahl's best childrens fantasy (as far as I'm concerned) had to do just that !!

Charlie Bucket lives with his two, elderly, frail, sets ...
