Impenetrable waffle ruins John Taylor's, Greek to GCSE, for me. I found the long winded explanations, that rarely included pertinent information, frustrating. Constant comparisons with Latin didn't help. Exercises, however, were relatively well paced and gave lots of practise, but it doesn't give quite enough depth for GCSE. The stories were worse, and made little sense even when translated correctly. I would definitely try find an alternative course if you wish to study Ancient Greek without tearing your hair out in frustration.

Logical thinking but needs a little more in-depth advice and reasoning. I use John Taylor's Greek To GCSE regularly and it's helped me with the subject.- Read Guest's review (26 words)

Greek to GCSE is a brilliant book which however is sometimes abused by the author for setting long and impossible preps from it- Read dave 42's review (48 words)

Having ground to a halt when trying a couple of other course books on koine (common/Hellenistic/New Testament/linuga franca) Ancient Greek, these two books on "proper" Ancient Greek seem to be doing the trick. It may be that my previous attempts have laid some foundations, but these books seem much better paced in term of the amount of exercises interspersed amongst the fresh material.- Read Jonathan Sambrook's review (80 words)
