Bad Points: Where to start! My car has given me mysterious problems, all of which were totally explainable if only VW dealers knew anything or could diagnose anything. First, it sounded like a tractor for nearly a year when on full lock. That was a seized one way clutch on the power steering and resulted in the pin snapping and all the drive belts collapsing into the engine. Secondly, again, no diagnosis from any experts, had to find the problem on the VW Audi Forum myself in desperation. The plenum chamber gets blocked and fills with rainwater somehow allowing water into the break system - potentially very nasty. It seems VW know about this but have not put it out as an official recall. It should be as I consider VW have endangered me by not telling me this when asked but referring me to my dealer who, when I told them what to look for - again thanks to VW?Audi Forum, they found it and did the work free of charge. Intend to let VOSA know about this as it should be a recall.
General comments: The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Ghia Est 5-Tronic is a well built smart-looking vehicle, scrubs up well and classic design. I have the estate version 130bhp 1.9TDI SE. Don't know whether to stick with the devil I know now I have had it put right or venture out there in the unknown again! I have always felt safe in this car rather bizarrely as it has tried to communicate when it has been unwell for long periods of time but in fact has never endangered me when it could have. When a deer jumped on the car at 60mph on a country road it behaved admirably and took the punishment albeit £2500 worth.
