Physics For You was the set book for my O levels. I happened to read it 5 years earlier, and I was hooked on physics. The beauty of this book is it's perfect explanation of principles. The key to physics is understanding principles and nature's "laws", and applying them to other situations. Books tend to fail this ... PforY however does it beautifully.

It has pictures to help explain concepts. However, it doesn't really explain everything, doesn't have answers to all of the questions in the review sections, has no website with practice quizzes and tests. Ok book, but not that great.

I used Keith Johnson, Physics for You during my O'Levels in 1985. It was not just an excellent text, it helped to transform my whole attitude to the subject. It presents Physics as something that is fun, something to be enjoyed, and that makes all the difference!
