Written on: 10/12/2006 by skywings (7 reviews written)

I bought the 2000 Honda/Acura Integra Type R as my second car, having owned an Integra LS previously.

ENGINE AND PERFORMANCE
The lightweight Type R has a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine (B18C) with the legendary Honda/Acura VTEC engaging at about 5000rpm. This is what turns an already strong engine into a screaming monster of a thing above 5000rpm. That might sound like a lot to rev a car, but with a cut out at about 9500rpm, the Type R is born to be revved!

The Type R has short gears, so be… Read Full Review

I have had my Honda Acura Integra Type R now for a little over 6 months and I love every driving minute. When I have to get out of bed at an awfull time in the morning to go to work it makes it a whole lot easyer knowing i'll be going in my ITR. (yes even after six months). The car is a great looker aswell as spot on handling and performance. On the handling point its greatly improved if you stick on some nice rubber...(on the wheels that is :P) If you can afford one of these little Jap rockets… Read Full Review

This Car has a 2.0 Litre engine and blows a whopping 220 Horse Power. It has racing seats and anything you can dream of in an Honda import. I think this car is their best yet, but we have the Acura RSX in America. I also won't be satisfied until the Honda Integra Type R is released in America. you really don't have a clue what you are talking about, we all apreciate the engineering of an S2K n/a engine, but does that mean turbo technology is obsolete? of course not!
<br>The bottom line is turbo's are far more tuneable hence why they are popular with enthusiasts. And of course you can do any speed in a turbo in switch it off afterwards! you obviously haven't heard of a thing called a turbo timer.

In Holland they have introduced the new VW Golf with a 200hp engine, so ? Honda delivers 200 hp without a turbo. Even an old Fiat 500 with a turbo can do 0-62 under 8 secs. I don't like dissing people but all you guys (and some girls) who think turbo's and superchargers are all that.....sorry but I DON"T THINK SO. It is too easy and too simple to put a turbo or supercharger on a car to go fast. Try to do this without a turbo. Furthermore, you have to realise that you are driving a turbo powered engine. I can do 230 km/h for 2 hours and then go home, switch of the engine without having to be afraid to crash the engine. So for all of you turbo guys...no thanks.s Mike

I've had my 2001 Honda Integra Type R for almost 3 months now and I enjoy driving every minute of it. The car handles great and you can actually feel the road surface completely. ITR can also grip corners unlike any other front-wheel drive cars that I've driven.

ITR possess two personalities while driving on the street and with traffic and on the highway. Once V-Tech is engaged, the car accelerates with lightning speed that will simply take off on most of the ordinary sport cars tailing… Read Full Review

What do you mean incredible low down torque?? thats the largest draw back with the integra - having to wind it up the rev range before you really start to move. The car lacks torque, with the majority of its performance coming from bhp.

The car is very light. Chassic is very firm, about as firm as I've ever felt a stock car. Good power throughout the gears. I think the ratios are as bit long though, but the power is utilized so it is not a problem. The car did not come with a rear wiper, clock or even lights in the trunk.
The Recaro seats are comfy but may not suit large persons. The Momo Steering wheel is a perfect 12.5", the titanium shifter is efffective if not the most comfortable. Shifting is firm, short and precise… Read Full Review

I BOUGHT MY HONDA ACURA INTEGRA TYPE R FOR £11795. THERE ARE NO CARS THAT CAN BEAT IT FOR PERFORMANCE FOR THIS PRICE. IT IS RIDICULOUS. THE ACCELERATION WHEN U HIT THE RED ZONE IS MIND BLOWNG. ONCE IT REACHES 5800 RPM, IT IS THEN THAT THE REAL FUN STARTS, THE WHEELS STRUGGLE FOR GRIP, AND ARE THEN CALMED BY THE LIMITED SLIP. IT SCREAMS AT YOU "MAKE ME GO FASTER, PUSH ME TO 9000RPM." Yeah...you could just swap a B18C5 into a non-vtec Integra and make the same power, but the Type-R's handling would still be way better. I heard its because the chassis is seam-welded instead of spot-welded so its a so much stiffer ride.

If to but a INTEGRA LS/RS/GSR then head to your local ACURA dealer. There should be one in every city. The best one for your buck is the INTEGRA GSR. But if you want a full blown street racer...then my advice is get a: INTEGRA TYPE R/ B18C5. These are by far the fastest 4 cylinder that HONDA has made. Except to the PRELUDE type S which houses a big block V4 which pushes out 220BHP at 7800 rpm. The INTEGRA TYPE R pushes out: 200BHP at 8500 rpm w/o breaking a sweat. Fully redline at: 10000 rpm. INTEGRA TYPE R USDM (US domestic market) left hand drive runs for about $20,000 - $30,000. But if you want to save money...go and buy a INTEGRA LS which costs anywhere to: $8,000 - $12,000...drop an INTEGRA TYPE R engine [B18C5] cost: $5,000 - $6,000 and you will have the same INTEGRA TYPE R with less $$$ spent.

I've owned my Honda Acura PY 2001 Integra Type R for nearly a year now, and I've loved all 14,000 miles I've put on it thus far. It's the fastest STOCK front wheel drive car in the world. With just a good I/H/E setup a Apexi VAFC, a fuel pressure reg., and some good tuning you'll see mid to high thirteens in a 1/4 mile run, and that's on street tires. The real performance of the Integra Type R shines on a heavy turning road course, such as the ones found at a auto-x. That's where the real fun… Read Full Review

I agree that the ITR is the best all round car you could get if you are a racing enthusiast. The car is damn sexy and comes with great features in stock form (momo steering wheel, knob, recaro seats). The VTEC engine works like charm and truly has that jekyl/hyde personality when it switches between stages from efficient car, to smooth criminal speed demon after blasting past the 5500 rpm mark on the taco meter. The car has gorgeous looks and the interior is nice and appealing. Get this car, it has all the good things you would want in a car.

I have orderd NOS for my car and it should have 260 Bhp, I can't wait! Only one downside by the way, the engine has trouble with dirty fuel!!! I have ran my fuel tank nearly empty twice and I have had to have it cleaned twice because it kept stalling....Just watch out for that they are sensitve.

OK, you idiots, the Honda Acura Type R coupe is the only automobile that can even think to compete with the original E30 M3, if you are old enough to know what that is. I own a 2001 Yellow ITR and it is by and far the beast Acura meant it to be. There may be faster cars out there, but none with the over-all performance of the ITR.
