If you are looking for a sporting luxury saloon this is the car and the right engine. Good balance of raw speed and reasonable economy if you drive sensibly. Don't see the problem with I-Drive, its as easy as using a mouse on a computer. Make sure you go for the models with comfort seats.

Fabulous car with head turning features. Handling, Interior space, Performance, Range of options, Presence on the road - all are excellent. Get the performance tyre option 10's with Pirelli P zero tyres.

Why have you to pay so much money for a car that gives so much trouble? A lot of them, breakind down, and wt 75k miles, back door wont open from the outside, drivers window wont open, the seat belt and air bag warning lights on, broken back springs and am a very care full driver, overrated car and would not buy another.

I was taken aback by the appearance of the BMW 7 Series, the sturdy quality of the hardware and reliability.

The BMW 7 Series 745i (E65) is potentially an outstandig car, but this executive car has been over-engineered. It adds complexity when simplicity would have worked better. Poor reliability and technicians only capable of exchanging units have not helped. Overall a real disappointment compounded by 50% depreciation in 18 months.

My 745i showed the same problem as you indicated, the rear door could not be opened from inside or outside at 75k miles. I called BWM service, they did not want to do anything. I searched the internet and found quite many people have the same problem. I think we should let the NTSA know and ask them to investigate. This problem will not appear in any low cost vehicles even they accumulated very high mileages.
