    Good Points: Good spatial positioning, very good bass, clear medium and treble, nearly perfect when drive by a very good amplifier.


    Bad Points: Very big loudspeaker, need a lot of space and a very dynamic amplifier to perform to their best or they sound too smooth. Even some very good electronics may have trouble to drive it correctly.


    General comments: 19/20 was the appreciation on the French "revue du son". After 12 years of using these Celestion Ditton 88 speakers with my nice Sansui amplifier I did not find better balance and dynamics. These loudspeakers can be very smooth or very hard - depends on the music, they are really transparant. They sound better if separated from the floor by a good device. They can be use in classic pop jazz music without any difficulty and are always a pleasure to listen to. A Loudspeaker too large for most installations but with no compromise on quality. If you plan to by one second hand, take note that they were built as a matched pair of cabinets because the 4 woofers were balanced precisely to prevent phase distortion. Only small fault, depending on the place they are positioned in a room, mid sound can seem a little harsh on some violin.
