Good Points: Rated tops by Texas Insurance commission for less customer complaints, low rates, prompt service, etc.

General comments: Thanks to the internet I was able to research and find AMIKA, an Insurance company that would cover my home, and save me considerable money in doing so. When my insurance came up for renewal in early 2002 with my carrier of many years here in texas, I was shocked to see the rate nearly triple from the previous policy. I immediately started a pretty desperate search for other carriers. My phone calls sometimes were not even returned. Those that did respond stated they were not covering homes in Texas due to the BLACK MOLD problem. I was lucky to think of trying the Texas Insurance Commission board web site. That site listed and rated all the insurance carriers in our area. Amika rated tops, but I had never heard of it. I looked up the AMIKA web site and was impressed to find they are A very old northern states company. I spoke with their representative and got quotes for my home owners with full coverage and full replacement of my home
and contents for about 1/3 the annual price of the local insurance companies. Amika explained that they had not suffered the losses to flood and Black Mold since they were not heavily insured in Texas, so their prices are remaining normal. That made me happy, I now also have moved my auto insurance to Amika, They allow one monthly payment that covers both. Look up their WEB site, save a bunch of money and as I, thank GOD for the internet. Adios from Austin Texas.
