Good Points: Light, easy to handle vintage junior size rifle. Manufactured 46/59 37.5" long 4.75lbs cal.177. Great back garden plinker. Reasonably accurate. Values appreciating for a good example.
Bad Points: None to speak of, being a vintage model it has no scope rail. No safety catch.
General comments: If you are looking for a simple but reliable junior size rifle with a difference
hunt out one of these old beauty's also they are a great rifle to learn the mechanics of the basic air rifle my example cost £40 it needed a complete renovation program which i have just completed, in the process i changed the breech seal, piston washer, main spring, refinished the stock and re blued. I repeated the blueing and varnishing to get the desired affect. She now achieves 1 inch groupings at 10mtrs and with a little fettling the sights are zeroed for the same. And the great bonus is that you will own a small piece of great British air gun history. Incidentally the power output of around 4/5 foot lbs is ideal for back garden shooting.

I've had a BSA Cadet .177 that my grandad gave me (by then a well used and loved little rifle) 20 some years. Not spot on with the fixed sights but consistent and reliable. If you want a back yard plinker and can find one of these buy it!

i have owned two of these BSA Cadet .177 rifles and they are perfect for varmint control(rats, mice, pesky birds..ect)the accuracy is not spot on but for a backyard protector it is absolutely perfect it handles like a pencil so if you see a group of rats trying to take down one of your chooks it is easy to just grab, load and blast.
but if your someone who wants to start professional shooting you should probably go for somthing a little more powerfull.

I recived this BSA Cadet rifle off my pop when i was 9 so i was quite supprised when i saw it on the net. This rifle is a good starter for a young inthusiast but for someone over 18 you should probably look at getting somthing more like a Gamo shadow 1000 or a bsa supersport.
or if your someone who wants to do some pest controll around the house you cant look past the cadet.

The BSA Cadet is a very pretty little break barrel plinker with open sights (fixed rear). Not designed to take a scope. This is an ideal starter gun and there were thousands sold in the 1950-60's. Mine is an ex-fairground model and, with new stock, seal & spring is still providing fun for me & the grandkids (the old stock has now been cut down to suit a six-year old). It's small size, light weight and easy cocking are ideal for youngsters. It has to be well made & robust to have stood 50 years o ...
