Have read only first 3 chapters so far and loving every bit of it. The book is rich in detail and research but the most remarkable thing about it is how cricket and history are woven together to make something irresistible. Top class and a classic. (read more)

Ramachandra Guha, A Corner of a Foreign Field: The Indian History of a British Sport - There is a risk in reading a book like this: After this book, most other books on cricket will feel too narrow and too shallow. This is a master work. The years will make it a classic. (read more)

Well, it's a fantastic book on the history of Indian Cricket. Ramachandra Guha nicely traced the cololnial legacy of this sport: infact there are interesting episodes of contest between the British and the natives. It's fascinating to see this British Sport that's been developed into the national sport in South Asia in the course of colonial history. The sport historians and scholars must read this great work of Ram guha. (read more)
