    John Wyndham, The Chrysalids has a good pace, characters make sense, very little of 'why on earth did they do that' logic which stops me in my tracks when reading. Everything in the story flowed well building up from a rather mundane world to an extraordinary one, without leaving the characters behind. Sometimes it gets a little petty and drawn down in mundane details when the bigger picture is much more interesting. But this is rare.
    As a reader who enjoys a story as a story I loved it. I didn't try to bridge to metaphors of the real world. It was just a good story with nice characters going through great ordeals. I'm certainly going to look out for my Wyndham. In fact I came to this site looking for reviews of what to read next!
