Put my mind at rest when I was looking for a BMW. I looked at a few BMW's and found this site to be invaluable at making sure the cars that I thought about buying where as the seller said there were. Some were not and this information allowed me to not even bother to view the car and waist my time and expense traveling to look at cars that had been damaged or stolen. I purchased car in feb 2013 after icarcheck said it was all clear. Got arrested yest by police for suspicion of theft of vehicle. turned out it was stolen in dec 2012!!!! Why didn't icarcheck know this in Feb 2013? got released without charge after 22 hours in the cells. out of pocket too. (read more)

As this man knows full well, DVLA made an error and removed the stolen data. They issued him with a V5 in error. We too had the same data. We have liaised with him and are in the process of assisting him in (hopefully) getting the vehicle back. We are only as good as the information we are given and always go the extra mile to help our customers when they encounter unexpected difficulties.

The check did not pick up that the car I purchased was a grey import from Sweden, I am now in a battle with the garage to get my deposit back!! The check stated it had never been imported, I only found out because when I phoned for insurance they picked up a problem with the cars year of manufacture. Piece of advice always ring the manufacturer with the cars VIN number to check the car, its free so you mite as well!! The company also offers no guarantee so I am forced to continue my battle... The data we supply relating to imports is precisely what is shown on the V5. Grey imports from EEC countries will rarely be picked up as it is not data recorded by DVLA.

Mileage data is collected from leasing companies, DVLA, and some other sources. It is designed to help a user gauge whether mileage might be altered. It cannot provide data which has not been supplied. If we have no mileage data we do not charge and we tell customers how many records we have before they decide to buy it. What more could we do !!

yes but this gold isquite good, I bought it mysel, think about it if you get a full hpi check frm somewhere it would cost between £30 - £40 for a good one, you pay £10 fo a gold one then this gives you all info besides outstanding finance and you can pay an extra £6.50 to get he finance report, 1* was a bit harsh

I do work for them. We intentionally separate out optional mileage and finance checks because we tell customers if we have any data relating to finance or mileage before we take their money. We think that is a fairerway of doing it than charging everyone for data that might not exist.

This company charges 9.99 for a Gold check but fails to state that you have to pay an extra 3.50 if you want a mileage check. On Autotrader the price of their check includes mileage and it’s cheaper. Steer clear of iCarCheck. (read more)

Thank you for your comment solveituk, after my complaint to iCarCheck and my threat to contact trading standards, they gave me a full refund and agreed the wording of their ad was misleading. They have now changed the wording to include the word 'optional' in front of the services for which they charge extra for. I can assure you I ALWAYS read the terms and conditions and not just assume (as you evidently do) that 'it's down there somewhere'. I don't agree with you that iCarCheck is value for money once all of the options are taken. I would advise anybody using this service to pay via Paypal as it's far easier to get a refund when you realize the true cost of the service is not as advertised.

Yes I too faced this issue for Mileage and Outstanding finance check.
"Our systems could not automatically match this vehicle to the Finance databases.This does not mean this vehicle is clear of finance Further Manual investigation is required. Please call our finance call center on ... and our operators will investigate this for you. The cost for this service is £6.50"

solveituk, if you have had a positive experience with iCarCheck why didn't you just write a positive review instead of replying to my review in a condescending manner and suggesting that somehow I was at fault by either not reading the terms and conditions or being confused. There is no confusion when the advert states a price for a service and then asks for more money for a portion of the service which was included in the original price. If I was somehow confused why did I get a refund and and admittance that the wording was misleading? Please don't make assumptions about me and try to belittle me. Have you stopped to consider that your experience with iCarCheck happened after my intervention causing the wording of the advert to be changed? Please substantiate your claim that 99.9% of people think it's value for money. How do you know this? Do you have some inside information? What kind of person would have no expectations about a service he is paying for? Surely, at the very least, he would expect to receive the service he has paid for.

Very easy to understand, the breakdown was simple and the catergories described very well, my only downside was the lack of detail the report was able to provide as to the nature of the accident the vehicle was involved in. We are completely open. We do not take money for mileage checks unless we have mileage data and then we give the customer the option. How could that be any fairer. Look at our website and see if anyone else thinks we make wrong promises - and let us know if you do. Our prices are clearly shown - aren't they?
